As you will no doubt realise, Advent Children is the forthcoming Square Enix movie which is the sequel to the incredibly popular video game, Final Fantasy VII. The movie is said to take place two years after the end of the game. It appears that the following characters will appear: Cloud, Tifa, Sephiroth, Vincent, Barett, Kadaj, Loz, Yazoo, Marlene (Barett’s daughter), Cait Sith, Aeris, Cid Highwind, Yuffie, Reeve, Rufus, Reno, Rude, Zack and a newcomer named Denzel. As you see, the characters are plentiful. More information about the latter characters will soon be available.

The movie is set in and around Midgar, where trouble was to start yet again after mako power was eliminated. Cloud and company will seek to save the world from the torment of the disease Geostigma – but will they prevail?

Storyline preview

Much of the information about Advent Children is thus far unknown. What is certain, however, is that the film takes place two years after the end of Final Fantasy VII.

Fans of the main playable characters will be happy; it appears that all of them will appear! It had been thought that Cait Sith would not feature, but he has recently been spotted atop Red XIII. Cloud will of course be the star. Strangely, it appears that the apparently deceased Aeris and Sephiroth are both in it, though whether or not their inclusion is limited to flash-backs only is as yet unknown, though it is widely rumoured that the pair have been somehow “regenerated”. As well as the games playable characters returning, it seems Reno, Rude , Marlene and Zack will also feature.

There are other, new characters in the movie. Kadaj, Yazoo and Loz are the three enemies new to the Final Fantasy VII series. There appears to be several similarities, not only between themselves, but also with Sephiroth. Another new character is Denzel, who is a young child. Very little is known about Denzel at this point.

The now peaceful population is affected by a disease named Geostigma (a life-threatening virus) – though we cannot suggest further what the connotations of this are, or indeed whether or not any of the key characters are plagued by this disease.

It appears Cloud is feeling some form guilt; perhaps he is unsure whether he did the right thing in saving the planet (bit of a no-brainer, really!) or perhaps he misses Aeris. It appears he has lost contact with his friends.

As you will see, from the above we do not know a lot about Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children yet, though we will be updating our sites to reflect any news and information we receive.
