Well, Hojo puts Red XIII in with Aeries in the shinra building with the purpose of breeding the ancient so they can continue to study them, so its possible (and freaky) that red xiii can breed with a human female as well. After all his grandfather does say on his deathbed "maybe you will find a mate fo yourself"
