I suppose one could use what they know of psychology in order to discern the truth from a user, but why go to all that trouble when there is a much simpler way?
If you want someone to prove their identity, and they have a web cam, ask them to post a picture of them holding a piece of paper or cardboard with words on it saying, for example, Terminal Est.
How would that not be proof enough? But I guess again, it could be a friend willing to help the user lie, as you say.
