I have read a few things by Roger Ebert-and yes, he IS insightful and intelligent-but it remains that he is VERY biased towards many things, and this was only confirmed in his article posted in EGM.
I completely agree that which ever constructivity that video games have, most other forms of entertainment also have-but it certainly is not true that video games are devoid of art and culture.
This was a point I had wished to underline, because such biasism completely made me sick.
But MidgarFanatic, I am glad that you were able to understand what I had meant, because even after having it published, I was not really sure if I had elaborated everything as I had wished. I did go somewhat far, but on the other hand this just shows how much I enjoy video games.

And even so, I am not biased like certain people, heh.
And yes, I have never seen Doom either, but I know it was said to be horrible.
I would be interested in seeing Ebert's take on it though. Most gamers are aware that for some reason, video game based films never work, and such is not a reason to avoid video games whatsoever, but somebody like Ebert who is not really a gamer might put it in such a way that other folks who rarely play will be turned off-there are other ways to describe something without scaring people away from an unknown element, and Ebert's biasism, if it is indeed present with his review of Doom, would completely contradict his conviction that art and knowledge should be sought for.
But thank you for the congratulations. It still means much after all this time.
And yes I was way too excited! *Laughs!*
