It could be viewed as shock tactics- as you say, seeing horrible images like these shocks you into feeling incredibly sad, and from that sadness comes anger and determination to put a stop to this kind of cruel behaviour.

The bee one actually looks like something familiar- possibly used in an ad for a child abuse charity. The NSPCC in our country does a lot of stuff like that, there are some really choking adverts every now and again relating to child abuse. the one with the Kate Bush song really gets me upset. Anyone who has a child or a dog would instantly become protective over them, and even if they don't, they would want to try and ensure that it doesn't happen to more children or dogs.

But then again sadly as you say, not everyone would actually act on those feelings. That initial shocked sad feeling only lasts so long, and soon it's forgotten, or people see so many horrific images that they become de-sensitized to them. Not much can actually shock humans anymore, well until the next picture or advert comes along....

Of course none of this changes the fact that the pictures are sick, if they are black humour then they are the sickest kind.
