I'm currently reading a series called Rogue Angel, anout an archaeologist on an archaeology/poaranormal history show who fount Joan of Arc's sword, which had been broken by a guy at the battle of orleans. He and his apprentice became cursed with immoprtallity, and the archaeologiust (annja creed), found the pieces of the sword. When she found the last piece, the fused back into the sword, and now she attracts objects of mysterious power and people who want the sword (including the possibly mortal aforementioned immortals), and can pull the sword out of hammerspace whenever necessary. "s a good series, teaches sopme history (but you've got to know which is history and which is creativce license for the ojects of power quest stuff).
Also, if audiobooks count, I amn also "reading" The Last Continent: A Discworld Novel by Terry Pratchett, where the wizard Rincewind has to bring rain to a continent that may, in some places, slightly appear a little bit... austrailian-y. (basically, an australia based on stereotypes and myths from the dreaming to drop-bears.) Oh,m and there is a talking kangaroo that may be helping him.
