Advertisements and You

Attention all users.

As of late our forum has become the target of various advertisers. These people generate random or pseudo-random names (ex: p000rn00) and post up links (usually to adult related sites). Here are a couple of things you should know and procedures for what you should and should not do regarding these problem users.

1. The users are robots. They do not live, breathe, read, or feel anything. If you reply to them, they will not reply back. They will not see what you say. Telling them they are stupid does NOTHING. You only look like a fool after their post is deleted.

2. Advertisements are, of course, against the rules. The bots will be banned, but they cannot be permanently removed from the site (their IP addresses change so we cannot ban known perpetrators from registering new accounts). That being said, there will ALWAYS be new bots, and new ads.

3. Just to reiterate, DO NOT reply to the ad bots.

4. Report via a Private Message to any one of your fine mods (DragoonKain, Snaggle, end_game, Ragnarok) the NAME and a URL to the TOPIC where the advertisement has been made. We are not omnipresient or omnicient. We do not automatically know and see where ads are. We may or may not reply to your message, but the advertisement will be removed and the user will be banned.

5. Do not under any circumstance visit the links that are posted by the robots. Not only may they contain questionable material, but there is a good chance they will also contain malware (viruses, spyware) that could infect your machine and make you a VERY sad panda.

See, most people don't need this advice. How many people see "Bad teen.com, bad teen porno!" and think "Ooh, I wonder if that's Kingdom Hearts related?"

If you know that what you do is immature and illogical, then preventing it is as easy as saying, "Hmm... is this something I would NORMALLY do?" And then dont' do it. Simple as that.

Grow up and stop blaming your quick actions on your age.

It's not a matter of maturity, it's a matter of simple basic SENSE. I'd say common but the stats say otherwise.
Face it: Pretty much eveyrone knows what porn/pron/pr0n is. we've grown up in it as a huge feature in society and communities within school groups, even at younger ages.
Please, grow up. Don't blame your age, or how mature you are. It doesn't make a difference.
