I remembered that MF mentioned he hadn't heard the English version of this song, and I dedicated it to Firesnake not long back, that combined with it's permanent place in my head made me think it deserves a place in ML's Music Library (I should make a proper thread someday....)
Very very simple little song, this. Once again I really envy Nobuo Uematsu's knack for making the most simple little melody so captivating, it really does stick in the mind. If I remember rightly, this is the first shot he took at a romantic song for the FF series. My knowledge of FFVIII is still limited because I'm only less than halfway through the game (frustrating ¬_¬), but this has certainly made an impression on me. Might try and find a Japanese version if there is one, because I've noticed the lyrics translate rather strangely, not that I mind in the slightest ^^
Uematsu likes his very simplistic chord progressions and key signature. It's in C, could you get any easier? Hehehehe. I love the instrumentation, especially at intro, it gives it a slightly exotic feel, very pretty. Melody is very singable, and Faye Wong lends her voice to it very well methinks.
