The X-Factor - Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh.
So yeah, it's the new 'Pop Idol' (or for you American's, 'American Idol') but it's sharper than it was before. Really fun, light entertainment. I don't care what you say :P
Gotta love reality TV music audition type programmes

Sorry but when I watch this show I feel the brain cells dying 1 by 1, every single one they consider "good" sounds exactly the same, that high whiny pop voice, this is supposed to be X factor which I thought was about different styles of voices, but no, all they do is put the pop potenials through, cause they know that when they hit that generic number 1 in about 2 months that theyll make more money - sorry but I think its crap, its not entertainment, its pop musics blind confession that bands are manufactured - they do it on televison in front of us - people are chosen on basis of looks and pop voice, not talent, If I ran that show Id put through every person who could pay an instrument well, could do basic musical theory and actually have a singing voice, which is not restricted to simple pop styles
Sorry but I find the pety insults rather low, its quiet upsetting to see fellow musicans be blasted cause they cant imitate britney, whats worse is the actual people who come to sing - again If i ran that show Id ban anyone who gave their reason for applying as "I wanna be famous" - well do it the proper way if you think your so talented
in one word - bollo**s

Did you see Rowetta in last years programme? I think you'll find it hard to argue her voice was pop.
I think what you're doing is actually part right and part wrong; yes these programmes have a tendancy to do what you've said, but not necessarily each programme. You're kind of stereotyping, and while part of what you say is true, I believe the way you have concluded your argument kind of undermines it by it's overtness.
Just my opinion

I watch it sometimes,but I have a question:
Were do some of these idiots get the idea that they can sing?!
They wait about a day to audition, and their tone deaf, they just waste their and everyone elses time.

The show -absolutely bombed- in Australia, there was such a lack of talent, by the half way mark - the station said they wouldn't be picking it up next year and the general public boycotted the show. None of the contestants (the only suiting word for them) have been successful, you can ask practically anyone "do you remember _______ from The X Factor?" and they'll be all "who from the what?", guarenteed.
No, it wasn't that great a show.

well first of, pretty much all those reality TV shows are evil... ESPECIALLY the music ones!! however as they go, X factor is probably the best one ive seen... i watched two of the audition episodes of it, and some of it made me laugh.. mainly the judges comments... and its always amusing to watch people who think they can sing and really really cant, have all their hopes and dreams dashed!
still.. now its passed the audition bit and gone onto the actual training them up and stuff I doubt i'll be watching it anymore.. just doesnt hold my intrest and Im not a fan of the type of music most of them do.

Just goes to show what idiots the british public can be in that case - seriously some of the crap we have on our TV *cough BIG BROTHER cough* must make us seem like a bunch of idiots to some
Bring back quality TV I say, comedy is getting more generic and less clever, documentries are no longer interesting (you think I care if Hitler was gay or not?) Hell even the news is starting to get dull, starts off good but theres always a story at the end about a puppy who saved a families christmas or a budgie that can sing The Phantom of the Opera or some crap...

Lawl. We have Big Brother aswell, its still quite popular here every year which amazes me because it is so shit. Like.. They try rope you in with all these promises of excitement and never seen before twists and events, when in reality they have just stolen them from other shows.
