What? OK the rest of your post is just opinion is i wont argue with it(i dont agree with alot of it actually) but to say FFVI is what made final fantasy popular is a fucking joke. What i said was that final fantasy was made popular in europe by FFVII and this is true because it was the first final fantasy to released in europe! So how can you say that FFVI was what made final fantasy popular then when we couldnt play it over here???(dont say imports because their were still very few ppl that would have played it). Im not here to slate FFVI or anything because its a brilliant game like almost all ff games but i feel i must defend VII from this bashing you are giving it! Also, look at the sales for the two games? they cant compare! And after FFVII was released it was so popular it even led to the first ff movie, even if spirits within was crap, and also another movie, this time a direct sequal. So therefore i have to say this, FFVII is the game that made final fantasy truly popular and ff wouldnt be what it is today but for it.

FFVI was out for the NES (Super Famicom) over here in the UK.
Think of it this way, did Square sell as much FFVIII and FFIX unit's as FFVII? No, because those game's according to most people were terrible game's, the only reason FFVII sold so much was because FFVI was so good at the time so Fan's couldn't wait to see if Square could top it.
Not all people played FFVII first, like myself, so it couldn't have possibly led me to the series, i first played FFIV for the NES and then bought the games as they came out, now when i came to FFVII, i have to be honest; i though it was a terrible game, everything about it just ruined what the previous FF game's had represented.
Just to add, it has also been printed in many Magazines and Websites that FFVI is what made FF so popular and that the series didn't have so many fan's until it came out.

3 was for super nintento i thought and 6 was playstation version with slightly better graphics thats how i see it

The first one i played was FFIX but the best of the series has to be FFIII for the SNES.

I would have to say Final Fantasy X.The characters,voice-acting,gameplay,storyline,and graphics are amazing.Also,there were a lot of 'twists' in the story.

Gotta say Final Fantasy X. First FF I played loved it now Im hooked to the rest of the series. I kinda liked the battle system better than the ATB battle system because with the ATB I feel so rushed and sometimes i make a mistake in a command. I also liked using the sphere grid and the legendary weapons were awesome.
