I agree, that he is indeed one of the most, em, evil.
Jenova might have been an alien organism which came to drain the life of the planet in order to feed, but it was eventually sealed away by the Cetra, giving the planet its safety once again.
But professor Hojo discovered it, rendered this safety void and and used its genetics and all, and caused quite a lot of mayhem.
He ruined countless lives, all for the ambitions of Shinra, wiithout a single thought of reason or caring for the consequences.
He truly is despicable.
Still, I wonder if he was somewhat insane?
I still root for Kuja.

Kuja once again, truly evil? He reforms at the end of the game. Zidane even says that in Kuja's position he probably would've done the same.
It must be Kefka.

Kuja does not seem evil from what I have read and been told (never actually played IX). As far as I can tell, it just seems that he got mad at b eing replkaced from the job he was created to do, so he found something else to make his replacement useless. If would destroy all life in the process, what of it? His job description involved believing and acting on the b elief that all life was self-destructive anyway. If I'm wrong, blame my friends, you people, and Wikipedia. I've never played FFIX.
And Hojo, evil? WAAAY no. He was a moron. He just didn't realize that the creature copuld possibly escape his greedy little clutches and force it's "son" into a destructive, vengeful madness, or he would have tried harder to save himself.
Jenova? No more evil than a (sentient?) anteater. Just saying.
I'm still for Yevon, the selfish, evil, backstabbing, controlling little misbegotten freak of a mortal-turned-god...

He did, but the fact remains that he was conscious of his actions before his reformal, and they were pretty horrible. If he cannot live, then all life must die. He was not insane, or manipulated (He was indeed at first, and this is what set forth his ambitions; when he realized what he was.)...it was all due to his emotions.
Which he was not even supposed to have...
And Zidane said he might have done the same thing. But he did not, did he? His emotional structure was just as well as Kuja's, and he had a free will of his own. (Like Kuja, which he proved, after braking his bond with Garland.)
On the other hand, perhaps the fact that Zidane found friends to help him through his trials helped him, in a way Kuja could not be helped. (Since he did not receive the same treatment.) Still, in my opinion, both of them were very sane, which is why it makes Kuja rather ''evil''.

I never said Jenova was evil. In fact, I am not even sure it WAS sentient. Just acting on instinct, like a seashell or a killer wasp.
Was Hojo truly a moron though? I realize indeed that what happened in the story may not have been in Hojo's plans, however his confidence never faltered, even when everything went wrong. He might have been somewhat insane though...the way he went out.
Well, it is just an opinion, (Unless the definition of good and evil is determined in the game.) but for someone to be evil, they have to realize their actions and what those bring, and even though Hojo's plans did not meet his original intent, the circumstances never bothered him.
As well, Professor Gast had warned him what could happen, so I believe Hojo was in full understanding of the consequences at hand, weather it went right or wrong.

Eh, you do make a good point. It's still my opinion that Hojo was being a moron, even if it was through stubbornness and not stupidity. Could have been evil, as greed is one of the seven sins, especially when continued at the risk of many lives. Also, I wasn't sure if Jenova was sentient or not either, they never really said.

Yeah, Seymour's just a jerk. Nobody I know of thinks he's really evil. And there are a lot of villains.

Yeah Sephiroth was pretty bad, and I can't think of any other villain that came even close to his standard of evil.

Sephiroth was a damn pawn just as much as Cloud was. Everyone probably thinks he is so evil, for they will base this on how magnificent he looks, but the true culprit was Jenova, and Hojo, whom unearthed it.
