What is final fantasy?

I've never played the game before but i really want to, but i don't know what it's all about or anything - can anyone explain please?

Each game has a different storyline, characters, setting, etc. That's why alot of people prefer one to another. Now i think about it, it's pretty hard to sum up. o.O

I personally recommend either 7 or 8.

Tell me. Why are you on this forum if you've never played FF. That's wierd. Well all the games have a turned based battle system except for 6 through 9 which use a active time battle system which there is a little time bar on your screen indicating when you can attack next. Each game uses a menu at the bottom of the screen in which you can select to attack or use magic or whatever else you can use. The games are usually long and take up at least 50 hours of your life but the story is worth it. Each game has a different magic system from hte last and in 10's case, a different leveling up system.

If you are to pick upo any of these games I recomend 6 for the SNES(Is hard to find now-a-day) and 7(You have to look in the right places but you can find it pretty easily.)

But Anywho, Final Fantasy is the Greatest RPG series in the entire video game world...dont waste your time on FFVII...its horrable in my opinion, and FFIII (or VI) is a little hard for someone who has never played before...i would suggest FFVIII, FFIX, or FFX...these are the easiest for beginners and have the best storylines, plot, yadda yadda and such...

Perfectly said. FVII wasn't, in my opinion, STELLAR as most people see it. VIII was awesome and so was IX. My fav is X but I'm not sure it's great for a beginner because there are so many bosses that want you to rip your hair out but at the same time a non ATB battle system is a little easy if you need time to think what to do. My recomendation as a first FF game is IX. Great characters and plot and not really that hard. P.S. I still think the KH series narrowly beats the FF but these games are games that people should be buying not something stupid like Halo. These are some of the greatest games ever. You should DEFINATELY get started on playing them.

For me - in the context of the time that I played it - FFVII was stellar. It had the most engrossing storyline of any video game at the time, the graphics were great for an RPG, and when I played the events that took place in Disk 2 weren't spoiled, so they were actually quite shocking when it happened.

In the context of today's games, what with FFX and such, FFVII just isn't that great anymore. Whenever I play it though, I kind of envision it in the light that I did when I played it through the first time. To me, it's still a great game.

I agree...and its nice to see someone who hates halo as i do...

And DK has a point, FFVII would have been a little better if i wouldnt have known what happens and if i would have played it sooner...but i still say it was over rated...

And i still say go with FFVIII, IX, or X...

2 anserw ur question here is an ex. FFX is about a summoner named Yuna and her quest to destroy a mysterious known as "Sin". U have 2 guide main character Tidus through many events of the game By Inuyashaboy93 ^_^

He wasn't asking what FFX was. He was asking what FF was in general. In my opinion FFX was horrible. The story wasn't that great and the gameplay was bad. The characters were stupid, especially Tidus. VI was hte best. No question about it. If your just starting the series get 1 and 2 dawn of sould for the GBA. Argo FFVIII isn't really one foir beginners for it has a wierd magic system.
