How unclear was FF1?
"You need to get to Sarda's Cave"
".....Which would be...where?"
"You need to get to Sarda's Cave"

I found and still find the game very unclear for I borrowed the game from someone who has not the book for it so well thats unclear for me plus i choose not to use a walk through for this game and only wish to beat it by either sheer luck/coincidence or by actually discovering the crypticness is only a ploy to piss me off.

I was wondering what NPC hints you to go to the Lykion desert. Do they mention something about using the levistone there? I can't remember. I used a guide and regret not knowing. If possible does anyone know where and what they said?

Sure the game can be vague, but your destination is usually close, unless you got the airship(or even the boat), but it's usually not that hard to find the next place. Two can be as bad though, I got lost looking for a place forever and then ended up dieing when I got there anyways, they tend to do that alot. But it's got cool dragoons, and a game with dragoons is always awesome. But all the fun of the game is finding the next place, it's like you're a real adventurer trying to find your way... and the people in the towns are dumb and couldn't find their way out of a paper bag.

I remember playing the original Final Fantasy for the NES and I seem to remember that without a clear map and directions, there was a lot of directionless wandering involved. I was young when it first came out and so I remember the game being pretty challenging until I got the player's guide for it from Nintendo Power. But anyways, I think that was the point. You are supposed to wander around for long periods of time trying to figure out what to do because then you have more monster encounters and then it raises your levels.
