Hmm, I bet alot of people will say FF7, but I would reccomend FF9 for a begginer, its fun from the start, good storyline, good charecters, and it really shows what FF is all about when it gets going.

I agree FFIX would be the best to start with.

The same can be said for FFVII and VIII, no?

The only Final Fantasy a beginner should take a couple steps away from is Final Fantasy Tactics. The story is impossible to understand and the game is far too difficult/long. Seven is the overall favorite, then IX, then VIII.

Try VII first, IX second, then VIII.

FF4 or FF6 are two of the best and are cheapest, costing £20 each, although, If you want to play one out of FF7, 8 and 9, I'd say play FF9 first. It's the best one. Followed by FF7 and then FF8.

Correction, dont touch 10-2 at all, its total crap, I thought it was OK at first, now I basically hate it, its really not good enough to be an FF game, you can complete it first time in less than a day, and its childish, annoying, not to mention how much you'll hate the charecters.
Play 10, but id leave it at that, who wants to see Tidus alive anyway???
