I sound like a newbie...
This is such a stupid question but... I'll ask it anyway.
I'm hunting the Antlion Infestation in Sector 3 of the Lushu Mines, fighting my way through the regular monsters... when all of a sudden one of my characters is killed. I can access them as a party member to replace another person, but I can only have 2 fighting characters at a time now. I didn't get a look at what the attack was called, so it made it very difficult to look it up online.
So... help? This hasn't happened to me before in FFXII, so I'm not sure what to do. Saving my game, esunaga, etc, didn't help.

You definatly sound like a newbie. (no Offence)
An item called "Pheonix down" brings characters back to life.
A couple of spells do that too. ("life" "full life")
OMG, youve never had a character die B4?

Yeah, Phoenix Down brings your character back to life then heal them with cure, a potion, Hi-Potion etc.

you've never had a character die in order to use a pheonix down!?
thats more amazing to me
but yeah, def. stock up on those, i've never needed them more until i played FFXII

There is one other way you're characters can "disappear", If an enemy (such as the demon walls) cast you into the void, you can't get your character back until you get to the next section i.e. next cut scene.. Not sure if that's your problem or not, but hey  |

For all the above people ^^ PE said saving the game doesn't work so.......
I don't have a clue, if saving your game doesn't work i don't know what will ^o)
