Any Tips/Stuff before I play FFX?
Hi, just found FFX for $25, so I'm getting it for my birthday (on 21st). I'm going to emulate it on my PC but anyway, I was wondering if you had any tips on playing/emulating the game?
Please, no spoilers...
I'm guessing it's not like any RPG I've played before (Icewnd dale/baldurs gate, Morrowind )

I think we've covered this in another thread.
Let me try to remember...
Quote:
Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VIII both were released by EIDOS on the PC. They didn't sell too well, and thus future PC ports were cancelled.
Final Fantasy VII will work on the PC, but if you're using Windows with the NT kernel (Windows NT, 2000, XP) you will need the fan-made "Final Fantasy VII XP Patch" (google it).
If you have a decent enough machine, Final Fantasy VII, VIII, and IX will work flawlessly on ePSXe. Again, you will need a decent CPU for doing bytecode translation, and a decent graphics card for the OpenGL or DirectX hardware drawing. The main thing for your graphics card will be the available memory. 64bit cards tend to handle things well. You can even use a fast forward button to make your game run 2-3X faster while you're holding it! (It's a godsend!)
With all of those measures ... well ... met, you should be good to go for PSX games. As for the PlayStation 2... No. Not at all. You'll get 5-10 FPS at most on games that will only run 10% of the time and crash the emu the rest of the time. The PS2 just is not emulated yet, as there are far too many complexities. The emotion engine, the proprietary graphics chip, etc etc.
My advice to you: Get a PS2 for $70 on eBay. It's well worth it for all the RPG's (if you like RPG's).

Yes, that sounds familiar.

VITG should really stop hanging out with dropouts and get some education. I'd like fries with that.

Get ready for an excellent plot, accented by very good graphics and an amazing soundtrack (except for some of the background music, which can be irritating). Everything else I could say about this game could be considered spoilers.

Well, now that I actually have the game, I'm interested in hints, tips etc for FFX. I made this post because rather than asking about emulating FF in general, I'm interested on playing (in addition to emulating) FFX since I now own one. If it is any good I hope to get the sequel.
P.S. Buy some tissues? I hope you mean the plot is sorrowful, not that the game was a waste of money, although lots of people seem to think that at least one FF game sucks .

I think FFX was overall very good. There are some differing opinions on this board though.

Yes, the plot is 'sorrowful', as you put it.

Hooray! I got it, and it works!
Ok, I'm still stuck in the new game movie, but Whatever feeble FPS it is is better than none. Must say though, the graphics are better than I expected. Haven't got very far yet though.
