Wow it is!!!
It seems like VS is in some sort of education environment, rather like the SEED garden thing in FFVIII. the second picture looks kinda like a university in the background. And yaya for the return of cars!!!
I've heard plenty of strange rumours that XIII itself is supposedly a sequel to FFVII, but I'm sure that's unfounded, they've got enough of that with the Compilation. Do you think it might be inspired by VIII?

I think it could very well be, afterall, the setting of FFXIII Agito will be in a magic school, with the playable characters all being students. So I think it could be entirely possible to see some returning elements of VIII in some parts of this game. We'll just have to wait and see.
PS Do you know that FFXIII and VSXIII are already listed on Amazon.com and BestBuy.com with release dates in December and options for pre-orders? What's up with that? Many fans are speculating that these dates have just been reserved in case they are released this year. But Square has not yet made any announcements on a release dates so it is all rather strange.

That's crazy!! But then I saw one site with a European release date for CC in FEBRUARY, which is completely absurd. I'm kinda used to seeing these things now, but they are annoying
I really liked the student idea FFVIII had, so it's going to be awesome. You see how the characters go from being an everyday schoolie to getting wrapped up in these adventures, and it makes for great character development. I love character development

Well it would seem that in a recently released statement by Motomu Toriyama, FFXIII's director, it has been confirmed that FFXIII will most likely not be released anytime in 2008, but probably will be coming around sometime early in 2009. *sigh*
But some good news...
1. Tetsuya Nomura has said that they are working on a simultaneous Japan/NA release date... although this is not 100%
and 2. The FFXIII team is working hard on arranging a DEMO to be released sometime this year, so at least we can get a small FF fix when that is released, heh.
*starts convulsing on the floor from the anticipation of FFXIII* god we have a long way to go

*walks from out of dark corner in a binding "white jacket"*
Your kidding right??!! 2009 WTF!? I was so into FFXIII will be released late 2008 now they push it back again. This better be a great piece of work.
A demo would be cool though. Doubt it will satisfy for long but a taste would be better than nothing.
Its about time they release both at the same time. Have they ever done that for FF? I thought it was always Japan then the U.S.

European and American sites put the games up for advertisement and give them a release date so people pre-order them, Its a trade trick.
As for a demo.. Erm.. Yes Please
And they will release it in Jap first, then the US, the us Europeans get the complete version

I suppose that's one good thing about us being almost last in line, our version is usually pretty much complete, they iron out a lot of the bugs

No need to wait for a PAL version though. If it's a simultaneous US/Japan release, you can import the US version. PS3 being region free.
Then, if they do add must-buy stuff to the PAL, get it.
