Default Final Fantasy XI Review by Kobushi

Final Fantasy XI is the twelfth mainstream game in the Final fantasy series (despite it being called FF 11) and is the first to venture into the online realm of gaming. It competes excellently with its rivals, such as World of Warcraft, Everquest and Guild Wars. In my opinion, it easily trounces all of these titles. This is because it has a rock solid history of amazing role-playing games and is made by the most reputable and recognisable RPG producer of our time.

Lets start with the graphics. One word is needed to describe them; Godly. The amount of detail is unsurpassed for an online role-playing game. This level of detail transports the player directly into the game and allows the fantasy to become real.

The equipment has been produced to only the highest quality and lets the player express himself and find an appearance that pleases him out if the other millions of possibilities.

The character creation stage offers an unprecedented level of customisation of an online game. You can customise race, face, hair, height, beginning class (of which there are 15), and beginning nationality.

The battle system keeps the classic style of the previous titles in the series while adding new elements that encourage teamwork and co-operation. When you engage an enemy, you automatically attack with your weapon at regular intervals depending on your agility and the delay of the weapon. This means you can concentrate on casting magic or using special abilities.
The “limit break”, “trance” or “overdrive” system is also present. And takes the form of a “Weapon Skill”. To perform one you must gain “tactical points” from dealing damage or being hit, when your tactical points reach 100, you can execute a “Weapon Skill” which will deal a large amount of damage and in some cases a status effect.
You can also summon mythical creatures to aid you in combat, the “Summons” of Final Fantasy XI. However, the most deadly summon from the previous games, the fabled Bahamut, does not appear in your arsenal. He plays a major part I the main plot.

Yes, there is a plot in Final Fantasy XI, and a good complex one too. With all the plot twists and grandeur we would expect from a game in the Final Fantasy series. Depending on the nationality you choose at the start of the game, you will play a different hand in resolving the peril that is looming over all of Vana’ diel (the world in which you live). I wont reveal any more of the plot here, I leave that task to you.

Kobushi

p.s. post any queries you have about the game and i will try to answer them as soon as i can.

Actually it's a lot further on than twelfth.

Hardly. FPSs have far superior, and as far as limited to MMORPGs are concerned, they aren't anything to write home about. They are about as good as Star Wars Galaxies.

What the hell is this supposed to mean?

Unprecendented? These combinations give at most (in terms of whether a base character looks different) only about few thousand possibilities.

What game are YOU playing?

I suppose. It has the complexity of Poke'mon however.

I said "p.s. post any queries you have about the game and i will try to answer them as soon as i can."

not "please nitpick at the review and completely ignore the fact that it is someones opinion, and therfore cant be incorrect"

go and express yourself on 3dmm. not here.

An INCORRECT FACT. NOT an opinion.

I suppose this was an unfair comment to make, but trying to quash my opinions of the game can be just as Gestappo.

And also, why should aggressive debate be limited to 3dmm.com?

I think there is room for debate on ffnet, but I also believe debate should be initiated in a friendly and mild manner, whereby neither party should take offence.

I think that Kobushi wrote a nice review (after I had asked him to, might I add), and it doesn't need to be criticised in that way.

That's just my opinion; good job Kobushi!

I think Kobushi knows what I'm all about, we do this ALL the time.

For a POSITIVE review, it was pretty good. On the mark just about!
