No child gets left behind
In education they have the solgan "No child gets left behind" So we were talking about it in U.S. History and My teacher said that they should get rid of that and if a child doesn't want to be educated then leave them.
I strongly dissagree with this. We as Americans have the duty to treat eachother as we treat ourselves. And if we were in the shoes of those people who "don't want to be educated" wouldn't want to get left behind. They obviously need there vision clarified. Education is the key to sucsess, joy and End to hoplessness and suffering.
Post your opinions.

Well, as my school's slogan goes:
"Every child has a right to learn"
You could say this:
For the ones that dont want to be educated, they shouldnt really be pushed too much to do so, its their life afterall.
But if they do get left behind for reasons out of their control, they have a right to be educated.

In many cases, the truth is that a 'child'(Or teenager, young man/woman, whichever they prefer) has fallen behind in learning due to time off school or not being able to concentrate during classes(distractions.)
The leads to the child becoming frustracted and disinterested. Also, being excluded and/or left out.
I remember one boy in my class (He's left school now) had to spend a lot of time off to look afte his mother, who had sustained a serious injury. When he came back to school, many teachers refused to teach him, as he "Should already know what the others were being quizzed upon".
This included the history teacher.
Bear in mind, the history teacher refused to teach pretty much everyone at that stage. He knew that no-one was going to choose it as a gcse. We had over a year of "learning" as watching Blackadder, for the World War 1 and the Elizabethan times.
I think the American education system is pretty whacked- I mean, because you're good at sports getting scholarships? That's pretty weird to me. "Oh, you failed..Hey, you're great at sports..Welcome aboard!"
Yeah, so that's my opinion. Probably very baised. But there you go.
EDIT: I do know that's not how it works, you have to maintain certain grades. Still, I dont really get it.

Children who won't learn should be shot. End of story.

Somehow I knew you'd say that. I agree in a sense of "I don't want time wasters and idiots shitting up my school system" but isn't killing them a bit harsh?

No. If anything, it's not harsh enough.

Pure idiocy is not always the reason for not wanting to learn.

Its is harsh, some kids who dont get educated cant help it, its normally something to do with the family.
Sometimes it is the kids, truants, total waste of space, they're the ones who should be punished.

Maybe so, but he didnt make it entirely obvious.
Looking at it again, I guess you could say that.
