Extinction, meaning or no meaning?
There is a thing i have been researching, for some weeks now, and i am still wondering about it. There is something called the chaotic edge. If you move too far from the chaotic edge, it means that the 'subject' is very simple, like a virus or prion, and often dies off. if you get too close the the edge, the 'subject' is too complex, and falls off the edge, or becomes extinct.
there are seven configurations while moving toward the chaotic edge:
configuration,
1-the subject is created
2- the subject starts to grow
3-the subject starts to grow sections
4- the subject gets more complex, and has group/area leaders
5-the subject becomes yet more complex
6-the object becomes unstable, chances of survival are slim
7-a) the subject regains order, goes to configuration 8, and starts growing again...
7-b) the subject dies off, extinction
this it the top-running theory of evolution and extinction up to now.
please reply with your comments on this.

I think we're heading towards 7b.
On that note, it's really hard to say if this was true. We'd have to observe the lifetime of many other populated planets.
But for earth, surely this may be correct.

Well how do we know? I mean right now "the answer" to all our problems may have just been solved (or it might not have). I never put doubt in humanities' ability to adapt. The only reason we took over the earth is because we are so adaptable. we are on area 5 if anything, our society technology and social structure is still maturing, and I think it always will be because of humanities' intelligence. The only thing that can destroy us completely is ourselves, and I don't think that will happen because no-one wants that to happen.
Discuss.

we could be heading toward the stockholm syndrome, but hwta we now question is thta is venus a mirror image of eaarth, approx 100000 years ago w/e, and that we are heading to the venus climate, and the sun eventually wil die, and even if we do survive that, how will we survive the anti-big bang?

thats just naive the middle east would on a far higher than recognised scale be more than happy to destroy themselves to destroy us money power greed war we say we dont want them and yet we constantly have them we have reached a stage in humanity evolution where brawn and power dont rule everything and intellignece is more key to success yet with the changing of power we have created weapons to wipe humanity of the face of the earth systimatically used are new technolgys without thought for the after effects and we are killing are selves and if we think on historical terms all empires have there days and we could be approching are one

We're definitely getting to complex with all the knowledge we're aquiring (Nuclear war, stem cell research, etc.). If it's anything that's gonna kill the human race, it's the human race. Interesting theory, but I don't entirely agree with it. You should never follow one set theory like that because it's relative. But, no I don't believe that we're on the verge of extinction. And the whole thing about the Earth dieing off won't happen for a while and we'll all be dead by then so let's live our lives.

For one the United States could end the war with the Middle East in two days without the use of any high powered explosives or any kind of radiation. My dad was in the navy and has explained allot to me about how powerful our military is (guns that can fire 3000 rounds in a minute). But because war "has" to be waged the most "humane" way it has been prolonged so long.
As far as extinction being caused by man himself, as long as no world leader does anything too stupid (I’m looking at you north Korea) we will be fine in the end despite what happens now. I agree with G.A. lets just not worry about it and just live our lives and make the most of ourselves for the time being. If extinction happens it happens, as the saying goes "shit happens" and that’s the only absolute truth there is.
(This has got me thinking of the upcomming game spore.)

Lol ''im looking at you North Korea'', extinction can happen if the bombs connected to the red buttons accidentally fire off, we just dont know.
The war between Hesbolah and Israel is really bad now, i dont know when its gonna stop.
