Oh and by the way, a good 80% of priests are either rich or Millionaires.
All I was saying was; what would be the point in "Tha Davinci code" driving people away from Christianity? Other than to show people the truth? Christians are so blinded by the lies that the Church produces they fail to notice what is in that book might be true.
Put it this way, what have the church changed?
1) The appearance of the Devil: They say the Devil looks like a Goat/Ram when in actually fact Pagans used to worship Rams/Goats so they Church though they'd make Pagans look evil.
2) The Pagan sign for M/F has been changed to the "Sign of the Devil" in the Christian church.
Looks to me like Christians hate Pagans if you ask me.

And I respect your opinion but again, ALL of the priests that I have met are no where close to being millionaires, and I have met many. I think you got your facts mixed up. Yes, there have been lies and scandals and such over the centuries with th church, and some still occur. But what you're not taking into account is the church's attempts to correct itself over all this time. They're making progress. In addition, amny of the Catholic symbolism is based off of beliefs centuries ago that suited a society back then, not now. A Christian must confess that noone knows what the devil looks like and the pentegram has been glossed up by hollywood, not Catholics, as a symbol of the devil. We no longer believe in those ideas, nor should we. And we believe what is in the bible [aside from things such as the creation stories] are true because that is OUR RELIGION. You wouldn't just go up to a Jewish person and say that they are blinded by the lies in the Torah [the same goes for any other religion] Catholics don't believe that non-Catholics are condemned because we're "right" or anything. Otherwise that would just be unfair for someone who was raised in another religion.

It's always a pain to try and have a NICE conversation about this book. It downright irks me when all I get is someone with the intelligence of a nine year-old who hasn't even read the book, yelling at me for being blasphemous.
Personally? I loved the book. Dan Brown is an excellent author, not matter what the subject matter happens to be. Robert Langdon is a lovable character; one of the few men left (present company excluded) who bothers to show an ounce of chivalry in this day and age. A genuine "nice guy".
Honestly, it really makes me roll my eyes when I see how big a deal people make of it. I myself can't say whether Jesus did or did now have children or was married to Mary Magdalene...I simply don't possess that information. All I'm saying is IT'S POSSIBLE. The theory has been around for a long time now, anyone who's ever read/heard of "Holy Blood, Holy Grail" would know. I happen to be Catholic myself, but I really could care less if Jesus was married/had kids. There's nothing wrong with that, in my eyes.
The book is a story, and a good one at that. What you get out of it is completely up, to you. Yes, I know the story is fictional, I'm no imbecile. I do believe, however, that some of the ideas may not be entirely so.

It goes against my beliefs but I'm still open to it as a book, not religiously

Okay, but maybe not that far but that's exactly how I feel about the book.
