Question The Death Penalty

Do you agree with it? If so, in what circumstances?

Is not capital punishment hypocritical whereby it is used as punishment for murder?

Express thoughts and feelings on the subject; please do not just say "I am for it" or "I am against it". Give some reasons for your arguments!

I certainly do not think it solves any crime problems, such is for sure.

Punishement may not always be the answer, but I suppose wishing to help one who has comitted atrocities would have me burned to the stake along with them years ago.

My opinion really does not matter in the grand scheme of the Western social structure though.
I wish there was a way to get to the root of the problem; instead of punishing and killing those who give birth to ill in our society, we should fix what in society that makes ppeople do such things. (Murder, rape...)

Because, yes, I am convinced that our environement and what is within forms many people's ideals and opinions of things, and if these conditioned forms of thought turn one to a killer, or whatever, then that problem should be dealt with, instead of getting rid of a person affected by pain, rage and hatred.

We should to destroy the root instead of ripping away the leaves.

I realize that this is nigh impossible, because although I believe this, such is not always the case. (Mental disorder, for example, has naught to do with this.)

It is not in the will of others to lend their aid, and it is not hard to understand why.

Who wants to help a child killer?

But...I think it would solve many problems if we did, although society does not, and never will, work in such ways.

Eh...everytime I explain this opinion, I am regarded with looks of disgust and contempt, but I stick by what I think.

But, since I do nothing but speak of it, even though I believe nothing may be done, this means I am no better then anyone else, and would sooner throw rocks at a murderer then try and understand why he does the things he does.

But no, because of this, because of the general suggestion that such behaviour does not help to stop crime, I am not at all for the death penalty.

And I only speak about our culture, not that of other countries from overseas.

I never agree with the death penalty because you're just ending something that has already happened. and soon, the person who love that person who got executed. That person will get revenge. Here I explain it

A=executed Criminal
B= Mother of criminal

If A get executed, will it serve justice or is it the inhumane way. We might pay the price by making another serial killer, hence B. And B will just kill loads of people in name of his son, A.

Now, death penalties aren't always a good idea. So, its just better off by sorting the origins of the problem. And really, the best way for prison in england is to be more stricter and less enjoyable, so people won't end up in there

The best way I see it to prevent crime is to use fear, such as your example of jailing.

But such psychological methods were lost centuries ago, and would be deemed much too barbaric today.

How dumb is that..

Well..it might not be the best way, but it has worked before. Problem is, people would abuse it to no end.

Hum..I do not know how many times such an example may occur, however hatred and contempt will certainly be present in such a situation, and that never helps, in any way.

What the hell does Jigsaw have to do with this?

He has done his deed for his disgust of people wasting away their lives, to teach a lesson to those who cannot see the value of living.

Not because they commited horrible crimes.

Well, some of them yes, like the big drug dealer, but his point was pretty clear.

And one does not get the death penalty for selling narcotic substences.

true but still a narcotic can kill if used in bountiful amounts and if your caught dealing drugs to the person who od'd then technically you are the murderer and should be put on death row.

Then, to understand your reasoning, I should think that if an individual who buys the drugs themselves deserve what they get, for making such a stupid decision, and themselves leading their lives to such a fate.

Of course, the brutal nature that is society would deem that certain people can find not other alternative, but then again, such would be the case for many criminals.

Define to me ''evil''.

As well, if we allow The Bible to judge us, then we are all sinners. A sin is a sin, and no matter the proportion of it, sinning, in any way, is evil.

I agree that pedophiles and people who hurt children in any way should be punished, but I still stress my belief that if we were to get rid of the root of the problem, wherever it may lie, they would be less of these people.
I cannot pretend where or how the problem occurs, and there must be some exeptions, however, I am convinced that for the most part, the situation is a conditional one.

And adultry is hardly a crime.
