Default . . .Corruption Systems. . .

. . .so they are evry where. . .soccer, politics, military. . .and the vid industry. . .no one can prove it, but i think we can all, to an extent, see them. . .or suspect them. . .conspiracy theory, kind of. . .

. . .so what makes me post this?. . .a fellow member on another forum posted this, which i found i agree w/ and i think we should all see. . .

why do i say so you ask? look at the games we're getting recently, you stick enough "points" that mean absolutely nothing, and enough variety to get those points, and no matter how awful the game is, it will sell good, i have to admit i have fell for it myself countelss times, those collecting games, not to mention milking games on the PS3 and 360 for trophies and achievements, some of those games truly sucked ass (i won't name them) but i still didn't put them down until i got all the points. so in general gamers tend to fall under that "oooh shiny" group that most people dislike, why, when, and how did this happen? i remember a time when identifying yourself as a gamer made you seem cool ... ok so there was never such a time... but still, there's a lot less respect for gamers as a whole lately, not only from the non-gamer crowds, but from developers as well, mind you i couldn't care less about what non-gamers think with their high and mighty ideals, but it distrubs me a little that we have been forsaken even by developers and the media, look around you, JRPG have become a joke in the gaming industry, WRPGs are just clones of one another, we live in a world where Halo is the Greatest FPS ever made and the most powerful hardware of the generation (ps3) has more Arcade-like 2D games than it's main library, just look at the PSN, Games are taken out of their genre, you have things like Alpha protocol for example, being reviewed on RPG specific sites that have gone so far as to ignore MMOs until recently, some say it's a revolutionary melding of the styles, but i say it's bull, you cannot call a shooter an RPG just because you slap a levelup system on it, looking at todays standards games like Zone of the Enders could be called RPG because you collect weapons and level up, why do we even have genres any more? might as well bundle everything under the "game" genre and revert back to the atari days. oh but that's not even the begining of my peeve, now you've got games that you can finish in 2 hours that sell for $60, now i understand developers need to make money, but how damn greedy can you get? a game with a playtime of 2 hours does not diserve a $60 pricetag no mater how awesome it is, it disturbs me just as much that some gamers actually fall for it and buy them, no wonder we're getting a worse and worse rep. etc...

your local hategamer's rant ends here. mind you i'm neither passionate or particulary caring about these things, i just write them because i'm bored, if some people were to reply and give a good conversation about the topic i might be less bored, so let's go. :icon_razz:

. . .its a little circle big companies run. . .the company hands over some cash, the reviwers give positive reviews. . .stu- , i mean, innocent gamers trust them and buy them. . .evry one is happy. . .we are the fish, they are fishers. . .or us the prey, they the hunters. . .whatever way, it works. . .halo any one?. . .remember square and ms?. . .

. . .i buy what i want. . .thats probably why i dont have so many games. . .oh well. . .

NOTE: didnt meant to offend any one. . .or did i? (goes off to think about it. . .i got hit hard on the head today, see. . .i feel dizzy, cant think well. . .). . .

. . .what you think?. . .

I am assuming this is mostly refering to Pokemon games, which still seem to be so popular these days. This series seems to be disguised as an RPG, although I have to admit that I have never really seen them as such. It is a lot more strategy in my eyes. I am all for collecting stuff in games, but only if it is part of the foreground so to speak. I find it gets quite cumbersome when it becomes the center of attention. And Pokemon games are ALL about this, and many people seem to enjoy it... it's just not for me.

But what do I know? I have only played one Pokemon game, the original Blue version. I quickly got bored roaming from one town to another town, finding a gym and collecting a badge, and starting the whole process over again. Only to know that I would never be able to collect them all, as I didn't know a single other person who was playing it in order to cable/wireless trade. I still don't remember what the story was about.

I am not sure I agree with this... who ever said these games are a joke in the industry? Many stores can't even keep JRPGs in stock. Someone is buying them, and enjoying them, or they wouldn't keep churning them out.

*Laughs* I do this too, compared to many regular gaming people I know, I only have a fraction of the games they do. And I am quite content to have it that way, cause I really enjoy the games that I do invest in.
