Humans evolved the bigger brains EXTREMELY FAST due to the fact they already had a brain to work with. for a insect to evolve the necessary circulatory system and repiratory system would have taken a hell of a lot longer so they wouldn't exist yet AT THIS POINT IN TIME.

I'm asking what would be here NOW.

1) Insects have brains.

2) What are you basing your presumptions of evolution time on?

3) Is it not argueable that brains are more complex than the circulatory system and the respiratory system, and would therefore take less time to evolve anyway?

4) What you're argueing doesn't make much sense, if humans weren't produced, something else would've evolved to adapt up until the point that it didn't need to anymore.

We can either assume that something would've reached the human level of intelligence, or would have reached another state which was equally as supreme in perhaps another context.

I don't really think we're on the same wavelength of arguement here.

1. thats besides the point. I'm not disputing that there WOULD be insects, but not insects yet. They'd need more time then than what it took us to evolve from monkeys.

2. I am basing them on the time it took for humans to evolve from primates.

3. No, it took 1100 MILLION years for a circulatory sysem to develop, and 200 million years for a respiratory system and it took 1100 years also for a nervous system (including brain) to develop. The circulatory system is just as complicated as the nervous and anyway, the only reason we could grow so smart is due to are endoskeleton which allowed us to get on land without the need for a clunky exoskeleton which the athropods evolved which is basically a space suit. they don't even have the right nervous system to become intelligent! The only thing they have going for them is their teamwork capassity which can't get them very far. their species at the current time (and at the time beefore Humans too) was at a perfect level of evoluti0n. They could live and thrive. The only reason they would ever grow bigger, would have to be all mammals being wiped out. (which I assumed hasn't since the end of the dinosaurs)

4. Not necessarily! we didn't take are path to bigger brains because there wasn't a dominant species, (Dinosaurs didn't have a super intelligent species, did they? They were around for longer than Humans have been) we only evolved are bigger brains because of the need for food and so the ones who could think better and find more food lived. Ants or Wasps if they lack food simply die until they have the right numbers again.
