well that would take a pretty far leap. they'd need to totally re-arrange their entire circulatory and respiratory system in oder to be able to grow into anything bigger than a Labradour.

Well come on, if WE hadn't taken the "huge leap" to evolve into what we are, something else could've easily had changes made of that magnitude.
