I suppose it's a kind of natural reaction to assume that everything has a beginning

Yes. Practically the first thing we are taught is how to count, and for a long period, we don't even touch negative numbers. Heck, for a long time zero doesn't even occur to us.

to bel;ieve that everything has a beginning you must believe timeas a straight line. Though recent studies have shown that black holes slow time down to such a extent that a astronaut falling in would prehaps fall for billions of years but to him it would appear as seconds. Further more in places with LESS gravity time actually slows down as well. so a astronaut living in deep space for 50 years would prehaps age only 30.
wierd no? time is not a straight line it is in fact a river with rapids and loops and other phenomonon. If we could only find the particle that causes it....

The big bang commonly held to be the beginning of everything but is this true where did the particles of diffrent gas come from that were used in the big bang and so on the begining must be the same as the end born from the death of one universe this theory the big crunch is when the universe stops expanding and retracts on itself till it's nothing i speculate that the retracted base materails of the universe then explode hence the big bang again this process takes so long it would be impossible to record but that sill leaves the question when did the universe come into exsistence the 1st time and how if we say god that leaves you the dilimea who or what created god and what created that etc
so in truly philosophical style i've waffled on only to use a truly philosophical phrase which brings us no closer to a useful awnser and that Life is a circle and so the beginning is the end

the big crunch is one idea. Scientists do not know the exact amount of matter in the universe, so they made three predictions.
1. less mass than they think= the ever expansion into darkness. there is not enough gravity to start the retraction, so all mattter forever expands away from eac other until they are so far apart no new suns or planets can be made.
2. predicted amount of mass = the full stop. there is enough matter for suffcient ravuty so we don't fly away forever, but not enough to pull it back together. So we get a certain size, and in that nergy eventually peterrs ut to produce the "lukewarm effect" where all energy is equal and everything stops.
3. the big crunch.

good points well presented and i'me a little stumped for a riposte
so i'lle move on with
none of those options are very appealing so lets hope we are all wrong
but you forgot the apocaplse idea however unsubstanciable it is i suppose instead of the four horseman it could be the four starships of the uniocalpse (hang head in shame at that terrible joke)
