1After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, "Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this." 2At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it. 3And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and carnelian. A rainbow, resembling an emerald, encircled the throne. 4Surrounding the throne were twenty-four other thrones, and seated on them were twenty-four elders. They were dressed in white and had crowns of gold on their heads. 5From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. Before the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits[a] of God. 6Also before the throne there was what looked like a sea of glass, clear as crystal.
In the center, around the throne, were four living creatures, and they were covered with eyes, in front and in back. 7The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle. 8Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under his wings. Day and night they never stop saying: "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come." 9Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, 10the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne, and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say:
11"You are worthy, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they were created
and have their being."
1Then I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the throne a scroll with writing on both sides and sealed with seven seals. 2And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming in a loud voice, "Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?" 3But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth could open the scroll or even look inside it. 4I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside. 5Then one of the elders said to me, "Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals."
6Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing in the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. He had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits[a] of God sent out into all the earth. 7He came and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne. 8And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. 9And they sang a new song:
"You are worthy to take the scroll
and to open its seals,
because you were slain,
and with your blood you purchased men for God
from every tribe and language and people and nation.
10You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God,
and they will reign on the earth."
11Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. 12In a loud voice they sang:
"Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength
and honor and glory and praise!"
13Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, singing:
"To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb
be praise and honor and glory and power,
for ever and ever!" 14The four living creatures said, "Amen," and the elders fell down and worshiped.
And Kain, if God didn't make the Earth who did?

Yeah, If it's not the big bang theory, the "Old man in the clouds" theory doesn't hold much ground in my mind.
I mean, doesn't it sound so preposterous to you?
Me: So, do you ever wonder how we came about? Or anything like that?
Religious dude: Easy, god.
Me:...Right, how did he do this?
RD: He "willed" to happen, how else?
Me: Doesn't that sound a little sketchy to yo-
RD: No.
Me: Not even sligh-
RD: No.
*awkward silence*
Me: So you're saying that despite considerable evidence that would suggest otherwise, and no substantial evidence to support the idea, that you support it blindly?
RD: Shut up you idiot, I gave you an answer. God. He is all there is and ever will be. The end.
Me: ....
I'm not trying to be offensive, I'm just a very logical thinker. If it doesn't seem to make sense, I will be dubious about it until somebody provides rock solid evidence to prove it.
Perhaps the "concept" of a god requires (in effect) blind faith towards it. But I just don't go that way.

I have to be on Kain's side here. Firm believer in the biggest of bangs.
Nobody knows how the big bang happened though...

Ah, ya see, us Christians have hope that we have a creator, not just some mysterious, stupid big bang theroy.
Oh, and Kain, let's just say that a TRUE Christian is NOT "religus", Christianity is NOT a religion, it's faith, and it's NOT "blind" faith.

It's kind of silly to state the big bang theory as "stupid" or "mysterious" given the evidence to support it. You can't discredit, in one sweeping statement the entire possibility of one conclusion (which is the reason I don't entirely exclude the possibility of a "god") Considering also that you've given no evidence to support your case. A case which I might add, would suggest that an old dude way up there can see all and do all.
I'm not trying to ignore or disuade you from the possibility of a higher power "entirely", It's just that the lack of evidence to support it makes me extremely dubious of it's credence.
Like you say, there may well be a "god" looking down upon us ("please don't be angry at my scepticism if you do exist" says Kain to god) but you can understand (and have probably met other people like me) my mentality behind my lack of faith.
Oh, and just to be ultra pathetic; http://www.google.co.uk/search?hs=Du...Search&meta =
I don't see many there that don't fit a description of an average Christian. But that really does assume that everyones understanding of one word is the same. (Which is kind of the ending statement in the discussion above)
Regardless, I see a "specific" religion that one person might have as being irrelevent. It's their attitude and beliefs that I focus on.
(Heck, as far as I know I might be a Christian, I never actually asked)

First off, Bird Flu, they don't know how to get rid of it, and the last flu epidemic was bad just because they didn't have enough vaccinations, so, there could be that big disease.
Also, i believe in a creator. I am asking a question, from what i know, which isn't alot, the big bang created EVERYTHING?? What can create something after that? What can explode (if thats what they mean) that can create everything? That still doesn't explain why where here. I just want a answer.

hey, PM me and I may be able to give answers.
And Kain, I don't mind that you don't belive in a God, everyone is entitled to your opinion, I just hope it dosn't take a disaster to belive in God.
But, will you do this for me? If the rapture(the many people dissapearing) happens, and you are left behind, will you give God a chance, and read a Bible? Because the many people that vanish, are ALL Christians.

Well the bibilical story of creation has been thouroughly scotched by scienceand like most religious conceptions and beliefs especially catholic sorry to say has never been willing to except facts from science it used to be we were the center of the universe or it was heresy the world was flat or it was heresy what i dont see is why christians and other religious sceptics dont just accept the big bang happened and if the tale of creation in the bible genis i think is more a parable than a truth .no point arguing over it its been provedas for whether theres a creator ime a sceptic jus dunno the bible seems like a pretty good read i mean you start off wth a few storys creation adam and eve/ cain and able/ noah correct me if ime wrong. But doset the bible jus seem like a collection of short stories your scriptures only come later i think when people started takin it seriously so they moded out a bit and made a fortune i mean you say jesus was human only man and yet apparently he rose from the dead i dont see it, bit contradicting isnt it So thats getting rid of the main pillar of religions scraping there religious text. And if god truly did create everything why is it there are scientific awnsers for everything even if we cant work it out yet did he create the substructures of everything and if this is gods work why can we start manpulating it splitting atoms even cloning and various other things
But this is my biggest problem with a creator who made the world in seven days why are there dinasours that definitly lived before us and for millions of years .And OMG i can go on forever i might have the record for longest post soon what about evelotion if god created man are u seriously trying to say he created mans son and his son etc
still to say no offense at any religious guys or gals reading but i cant resist a dig religion is such a juicy debate topic as for that rapture dissapearing people its not neccesarly god could be ufos or if youve ever seen the 4400 could be something similar
MUHHHAA FRESH MEAT FOR RAGNAROCKS RELIGIOUS GRINDER
look at it this way ive been sent here to questions your faith are u strong enough to resist lol like i said sorry if you find my ideas offensive but no harm intended
