Default Canada Sucks.

Because somehow, almost a year ago we have managed to elect an idiot to govern us.

Fun news for 2007-

Gas prices rise, milk prices rise, hydro bills have already risen, although they did not say by how much, taxes will rise...and all for the next consecutive THREE YEARS. Damn you Stephen Harper, blasted facist..I guess it costs a lot to send out soldiers to go and get buchered in foreign countries. So no work wages to rise though. Not at all, they shall stay the same.
If this goes far enough, every man in Canada will be forced to attend boot camps and us women will never be able to wear anything but long skirts. Like as if we were travelling back to the 1930's.
Well, this has to do with Canadian politics..I know not if anyone else on this site lives here, so it may not concern anyone...

So it is not a debate, and I really hate stating my opinion about politics, because people always get so iffy and pissed off if one says something they do not like.
I may bitch and complain, but I know I will never do anything to attempt and rectify the problem; I just wanted to get it out of my system, and I did. Thank you much.

Do you mean the profiles found in the uuser control panel?
No, I never did write anything in those, heh..

In regards to my topic, I would also like to add; Maybe price rising is not the end of the world, of course not. Some countries are in a far worse state then that. War, torture, disease. So maybe I should not complain of it..but if it goes on long enough with Stephen Harper, either Canada's state will worsen, or our politics and army will cause these things to other countries.

Canada's army was always to be laughed at (Aside from the peace keepers.) but now, Harper has put money into the army, making it much better then it was two years ago, and can only get better from now..which is a good and a bad thing at the same time, I suppose..

Not sure why Canada really NEEDS an army. I always took everybody else laughing at Canada's army to mean that Canada was a peace-loving state.

Maybe. The army here is indeed more specialized in rescue and humanitary missions and the like, and in this respect is supposed to be the most efficent in the world.
But as far as military might goes, we have next to none whatsoever. (Until not too long ago anyways. No more Blackhawk choppers! Yay!-Sarcasm.)

If we were not allied with the United States of America, then anybody could come over here and kick our asses. Aside perhaps from France.
This is mostly why I always thought people ridiculed the army here, although being hippies might also be a, or the, reason.

What a sorry state of affairs. Most Canadians seem to loathe Americans, yet they keep sucking up to them in everything. In my case, humans are humans, therefore it makes no difference where we come from, or who has what power, we are all war waging assholes anyway, or have the potential to be, given the proper circumstences, or ecxuses.

Canada's a state...?

Anyway, I've never been to Canada, but I have heard people fighting about Canadians and Americans (I don't like that name, the US is not ALL of North America) and that whole load of BS.

I say, I have to agree with Terminal Est, humans are humans, no need to classify them by country of origin.

But, then again, the continuous debate on this "I hate Americans" is kind of understandable on my POV. I mean, I'm all up for solving conflicts, but I'm too much of a pacifist to ever believe in war, or anything that has to do with killing people for some kind of "justified" reason. Yeah, I'm a hippie =P Peace & Love! <- Always makes perfect sense in my head, no matter how you twist it.

A lot of Americans consider themselves patriots by openly supporting this. Now, I'm NOT from the US, but to me, that's not something ANYONE should be proud of.

Canada is a country, divided by, wait for it-provinces! The same thing as a state. Or at the very least, I do not see the difference.

It is easy, should one be on the recieving end, that many people could frown upon the United States and their actions in the last years, however, I believe that should the positions be turned, anyone would act that way.
That is not to say that I am claiming that the United States are responsible for the misery of the planet, because I know not what goes on behind the curtains of their politics, and even if they are the tyrants everyone claims their government to be, other people elsewhere are just as bad, if not worse. Or once again, would be if they could. Ethnic origin or different cultural moralities all lead in the same place one way or another.

And Divine, you do make some very good points.

Try saying United Statesians and take yourself seriously.

Anti-American sentiment is kinda the "in" thing right now for the rest of the world. As an American myself, I think we kind of need to sit back on our hunches and play kiss-ass to the rest of the world for a while. That's not going to happen anytime in the next 2 years though.

A lot of Americans consider themselves patriots by openly supporting this. Now, I'm NOT from the US, but to me, that's not something ANYONE should be proud of.

The part we consider patriotic is the part where we were defending ourselves. We also consider it patriotic to "support our troops" even if we are against the war in general. To us, our troops are still our people.

As for the Canadian hate thing, I've never quite understood it. Americans also constantly make fun of Canadians, "Canada doesn't DO anything" "Canadians? Do they really exist?" "Bah, stupid Canadians". But in reality, Canadians seem to be a lot like us culture wise, so I'm not sure what the reason is between our bickering.

Not lending aid to the United States during the last war has something to do with it, of that I am sure, despite such a feud being much older.
But it is something I do not think I will ever understand..

You see, if we take America and Canada and take the example of bickering, as you say, one may realize that even in Canada itself there is this feud going on amongst them.

Everybody in Québec, where I live, hates everyone else in Canada, and the rest of Canada frowns upon Québec. Most likely for two reasons; a difference in spoken language, and a desire for the people of Québec to become an independent province, even a different country.

But I can say this for sure, because I have lived in several provinces in Canada, and it is all the same everywhere. And rather stupid I think. I was not born in Canada however, so at the very least, my family never truly suffered from this...civil racism? I know not what to call it.
In any case, all of Canada had been conquered by the same damn queen, so why not get along? Well, if they cannot get along with each other, never mind with the Americans.

Well... looks like Canada isn't as peace-loving as the rest of the world thinks.
