Most Haunted
My parents have been watching a show on living TV for...well since it started and I've recently (months ago lol) started to watch it too...
And it got me thinking (omg help) what if there was a place in the afterlife that we could come back and visit? Can we really communicate with the dead?

When my grandma was sick my mom said that she felt the presence of departed grandpa, she even heard...or thought... what his apparition was thinking. Apparently he had come to see if grandma was going to be allright and was quite relieved that my mom was there... so he left. I think my mom was telling the truth. I think the dead can visit and talk to us. Creepy huh?

not at all, zotar.
I believe in ghosts as i've watched the series too. wen i lived in a old victorian house, i woke up in the night and saw two ghostly children walk thru the wall. They were singing an old victorian rhyme and were skipping. Wudn't it b great to come bak and haunt someone?

I believe ''ghosts'' are an aftermath, a residue of the emotions attached to that person by their loved ones, which manifest themselves still after death. Desire and fear may go far into creating the image of a ghost.
I once heard a crazy theory concerning the cycle of time (The movement of the earth.) which causes the reoccuring of an aftermath of death, and the extravagant effects which happened during this death, coupled with what people have remembered of it. (None of this being concrete in manifestation, but only an awareness thereof.)
(Which is supposed to explain certain legends which would deem that some ghosts come back every one hundred years, for example.)
I believe it to be a trick of the mind, some aspect of psychology. This because ghosts seem to change in matter and behavior throughout history, which further proves our nature, because even if ghosts were once humans, one cannot apply human logic to something so unknown as what lies beyond death.
Thye one thing I do not really understand however, if this rings any truth, is how can more then one person see the same ghosts? (Anne Boyley, for example.)
It would mean that the subject bears a collective function as well.
I am not really sure, but I do not believe that the dead can come back, certainly not when the suggested reasons as to why they would reek of human failures and desires, such as coming back to finish what was left undone, or to warn a loved one, or even more crude, to exact revenge.

See, it's things like this that reassure me that there is NO such thing as ghosts. When you see how paranoid people can be in the dark (that scouse guy who 'channels' the dead for example, on most haunted) you realise it is quite a ridiculous notion. Ofcourse, people like to come up with nice theories about it, such as the one Terminal spoke of, where it's believed that because something so horrendous happened, it created a rip in time, and the same event occurs on that spot forever... it's nice for novels, for ghost stories, but it's just not true.

I have a hard time believing such a thing myself, especially when it deals with matters which man knows next to nothing of.
(The definition of time and its ''flow'' or cycles, without even speaking of the different philosophies attributed to its supposed definition.)
So then, you would suggest that ghosts are a part of the mind, or at the very least, workings thereof?

I personally don't in a afterlife of any sort, or a god for that matter, so i naturally think this is all a bunch of nonsense.

I think they're tools of the mind to provide both comfort (say, if you were to spend a week in darkness, your mind would create a 'ghost' to accompany you) and as sort of a fear thing. Maybe its been built into us for millions of years, to stop us from letting our guard down in the dark I don't know. I've personally never seen one so I can't really comment in that aspect
