...But wouldn't removing the bit where the geostigma is cured leave a gaping plot hole and cut a big chunk of the movie's symbolism?

Stupid expensive PS3. At least the 80GB is down to $450 plus a hefty sales and insurance tax, but it's impossible to tell from the boxes in which they are beign sold to know which have what specs.

Well basically it is available in Europe... if you own a PS3. Or of course another blu-ray player which I am fairly certain are universal players. So all you need to do is order the film on Amazon or eBay or wherever else.

Hurry up and watch it so we can talk more about it. I know the fangirl in you is screaming to come out ML. XD

Hmm, well that is true. But perhaps they could of just expressed it in a different way, some way that was not so creepy. For example, maybe Kadaj could of just cured one of the sick children, as a token of his "godly" power. Instead the film turns into some kind of mystical baptismal orgy for a few seconds and I am all like "ew".

And I am still totally with you on the over expense of the system. PS3 must become cheeeeeeeeeeeeeper.

I got to see it today. My friend's boyfriend has a PS3 and they rented this today and invited me over to see it.

I was, I must say, quite impressed, and was delighted by the added scenes. I was happy to see that most of these scenes were not added for mere flash value, such as a certain alley scene in the beginning, ew, but most of them delve deeper into what I had always saw as loopholes in the film itself. The event within the crater, a whole lot of backstory about Denzel and Zack and the Turks, (I believe AC alone will make Reno one of my favourite characters ha ha.) and some few wicked additions to my favourite part, the ending battle with Cloud and Sephiroth.

I admit...I do not really comprehend the entire plot, but I know there is one, but still, a lot of it is quite good at inspiring emotion, whether it be sadness or awe, and it still works quite fine, especially with some of the added scenes.
Also, awesome soundtrack. I had forgotten most of it aside form the One Winged Angel track, but all the game originals which have underwent a remix are pretty awesome, especially when coming out of a decent stereo system.

Also my friend has the television to go with a Bluray, so the whole film looked SOOOO pretty ha ha, I mean you could see every single little friggin' detail, like wolf fur, leather, and Midgar itself was quite impressive looking.

I still think Vincent looks like a total goof though ha ha. But a good looking goof. XD
(Please do not hate me Sam, he just looks funny I cannot help it ha ha.)

Right, all the negativity I keep thinking about this film still stands, but in the end, the film was much too thought out for the plot (Even if some bits still escape me, in the end the whole thing just seems an excuse to bring Sephy back, no matter how illogical that seems.) and reworked so good that I find it hard to believe that SE did this just for a cash in. I was convinced with this new complete version anyways that this may be the case, but certainly not the entire case.

And if it is a ploy, then whatever. Sephiroth can come and take my soul right now.

Unfortunately, I did not get to see any of the disc's special bonuses...there is this short animated special revolving around Denzel, I wonder what that is all about, plus some special which timelines the entire FFVII compilation, and a few other things I had wished to see, but eh I was a guest there so. >_>

However one thing still displeases me.

Aside from Sephiroth, Cid was always one of my favourite characters, and I totally resent how they made him in this...he looks like a twenty year old punk singer from one of those groups like Blink182. He is supposed to be an old grouch who chain smokes all day. ;/

But anyways, if anything just watch it for the new shiny remade 'action porn' this film is. XD

Hahahaha no not at all, I think his goofiness made for good comic relief in the film XD (jeez how many times does he have to flap his cloak like that? )

MWAHHHHH!!!! I'm dying to see this!!! I'm quite upset because I ordered my import at the beginning of this month and even with some angry emails to the buyer haven't had it arrive yet. The wait is killing me

The short anime film about Denzel, which is essentially a scene-by-scene adaptation of the short novella that was included with the Advent Children Special Edition DVD, was good but certainly optional. But even if it is not directly within the body of the film itself, it is nice to see more of a backstory fleshed out about Denzel, since the introduction of him as a character in Advent Children was a bit of a puzzle for me initially before the VII universe was expanded over the past few years. I just wish the animation itself was a bit more unique and top-notch, but meh, it is not completely without style and charm in itself and it was an interesting twenty minute character study nonetheless. A good extra for this new upgraded edition.

And you are right about the crystal clear images, the BluRay surfaces so many amazing details. I thought Vincent looked cooler than ever... right down to the subtle nap of his velvet cloak. The only thing that still looks goofy to me in regards to Vincent continues to be those damn pointy metal shoes he wears. I mean, like, huh? Just how are those things practical anyways? How does he even walk properly with those things, let alone fight with all those fancy moves he has. COME ON! XD

I think his cloak looks so tacky, and way too Spawn like, especially in AC. In my opinion it should have been black, but then he might have looked like Sephiroth a little too much.
And as Samantha says, he is extremely overdramatic with it-which is essentially totally Vincent like, but still funny looking.
But it is still a better design than the video game cape version where it is all straight at the bottom.

But yes, the pointy shoes, who knows...I mean does anyone know why he even has a clawed hand if he never uses it?

The clothes underneath look totally hawt though, kind of reminds me of Edward Scisorhands. It was neat to see what they actually looked like, especially in BluRay form, because before that we only had the game Vincent (Who fails to appear in any FMV's.) and the game art to go on.

But right whatever, this is an AC discussion, not a character design one...

Oh and Barret looks pretty hilarious wearing that mesh shirt lol.

>_>

Do you mean the collector's set? I own it, so they made a cartoon of that little story that was included in there. Would have been fun to see it, even if it fails to impress much. Oh well they probably have it on Youtube somewhere.
Does it include all the stuff from the beginning of the novel or is it specifically Denzel oriented?

*Chokes* I got it today on its release date here in Europe!! *runs in*

I was almost literally bouncing up and down in my chair when I put this in the PS3 we have at my mum's house, the anticipation eating me from inside. I decided since my mum's TV isn't HD ready that I wouldn't pay much attention to the picture quality, I'll save that for when someone decides to get the appropriate one (could be years, my mum loves her old TV >.<). Hopefully one day I'll get to comment on the beauty of HD, although it wasn't too bad on a normal screen for that matter.

The opening definitely had me hooked, and I really loved how there was much more dialogue in this version. I understood the plot a hell of a lot more. It did take a lot of the mystery out of the rest of the film when Rufus' dialogue with Cloud pretty much gave away everything else that was going to happen (I was like "dude, stop talking, you've said too much!!!" and then Cloud says "are you done talking?" XD). Other than that all the other added pieces of speech were very welcome. However I was a bit disgruntled that a few of my favourite lines were replaced- even if it did make more sense, I was like "nuuuuuuuuuu!!!" it took some of the humour away for me. I'm glad it all adds up now, but I really miss Reno saying "oh no, you're just too clever" and "and where it is we just don't know!!" =O

The added rough and tumble- being a violence kind of person of course I approve ^^

Musically I can only gush and gush over it- it's got everything the original had and more!! Replacing one of the Aerith's theme moments with a familiarly haunting theme (one of my favourites from the original game ) was a very classy touch, kudos to whoever thought of that. It's a shame that because of the lack of HD-ness that I didn't get to enjoy the full impact of the music, but I'm looking forward to that most of all when we get some more up to date equipment. Extensions of songs were done seamlessly and I was overall ecstatic over the great job they did.

Oh hell yeah XP

Lengthwise, I was surprised actually. The box said an extra 26 minutes, it felt more like an extra hour!!! Not that I'm complaining or anything ^^

Overall- I'm mostly very pleased about how ACC has been executed. It's still a gigantic wtf moment from beginning to end, and I'll admit I'm embittered about having some of my favourite catchphrases replaced (damn it >.>) but a small detail perhaps. It's certainly passed my expectations in all other aspects. Nya!!
