Back on- topic, the FF series is gradually getting more cheesy with every game. I mean, FFXII. Voice acting was rubbish, characers were below average (bar Balthier, obviously) and the storyline was, in a nutshell:

Defeat the big bad Empire.
Everyone is happy with a nice happy ending.

Whereas VIII, although still a happy ending, was more gritty, with the destruction of an ENTIRE Garden complex. Death-fest, in other words.

IX was a little too cartoony. It was good, with character development and storyline, but it was like a grown-up action cartoon.

FFXIII Japanes Release Date is set for mid-December 2009. I forget exactly which day. It should be out in North America by the middle of next year, but there's a small chance that they will hold it back for the fall rush if PS3 sales (present and past) aren't enough for a summer release.
