Well its been ages since I posted and I thought you all might not have seen this interview with the developer explaining the differences and changes they have made based on what they learned with FFXI.
FFXIV Deveoper Interview
For the most part I have heard a lot of people say they are not going to do this MMO from Square. This is from the few polls I have taken from my listeners who I think do not play FFXI in the first place. The current players of FFXI that I have spoken are all eager to see this new game, but they seem to have one problem. They all want a it to be me more of the same old world they lived in for 6 years or w/e. Some even "hoped" they could transfer the characters over.
I just have to ask myself ... WHY ?
Why would you want another MMO that is even close to the last one. Final Fantasy games are always different and that is what makes them so great. The same ingredients each time but different recipe. Personally I do not even want to see those same tired websites that "only" cater to FFXI online junk. If this new one is at all like the old one I will turn it off and count that as Squares biggest numbered failure. I am now 790 days playtime on FFXI and let me tell you they are still fixing things that do not work. Let us really hope the SE has learned something. Let them turn off FFXI ties and let people move on in a way they do not feel bad about leaving Vana'diel.
(sorry sounds like a rant but i am sitting here during a 6 patch to ffxi with nothing to do)
