Angry Damn Stingy Mjrn...

Hey everybody! i've hit a little snag here, ive got the game guide and it says that there is a side quest where i can run around eryut village, find a bunch of dewdrop pepples, and take them back to mjrn and her friend Chit will give me a Yoichi Bow. However, everytime i talk to mjrn she just says the same old line about getting possessed by the nethicite, and her friend is nowhere to be found. I've just aquired the sword of kings and compleated the hunt for the vorpal bunny for nera. I'd get it from sorbet (the proof is in the pudding) but by the time i get done fighting off all the malboros, im spent! my characters are levels 20-30.

On another note, i keep hearing about people who beat the game at level 30-40 complaining about how easy and boring this game is, how you can start a boss fight and go make yourself a sandwich, who ARE these people?! This game's killing me! I've NEVER spent this much time on a game before in my life, and im only half way through! eh, just skillless, i guess...

so, the point is, anybody know if there is a specific time when the dewdrop pebbles/mjrn sidequest is available?

thanks in advance,
~NoBlame

Never heard of that one!! It's actually not in my guide, which guide do you have??

It depends on how well you utilize the gambits- in theory you really could set up the gambits and happily leave the characters to their own devices. But being a control-freak, I just stuck to 4 or 5, and did the rest myself as and when it was needed. This also made it more exciting, as gambits can make things just far too simple. Except when the wrong thing happens, then they are just a pain in the ass.

I think once your characters get past a certain level their stats rise much more quickly anyway. So I was one of the people who got to level 47 and found no challenge in the end boss. But lots of FF games are like that, notably X and VII, where the extra challenges are considerably harder than the end bosses. It must be an FF thing, to make the games more accesible. I don't think it is that you are skill-less, just maybe you have yet to really figure out the game. I had the guide a lot of the time and at first still had lots of difficulty, but at some point things just seemed to click, and I "got it". Hard to explain!!

Keep going dude, and eventually you will be one of the people complaining about the easiness of the game!!

It should be availible after you take on a mark that is like a giant pink malboro. you have to get through a few clan ranks to get the chance to face it. Have lots of remidies on hand when you do.

OH yes, I remember this, that nasty little Marlboro in the forrest. Oh man, yeah that was tuff. I had to buy 99 Remedys and then I set my highest gambits for something like Party Member/Status Ailment/Remedy. And then my second gambit was usually Esuna just in case the Remedys ran out. Then I just tried to wack the heck out of it and hoped I pulled through without being totally poisoned. lol. It worked.

Heh heh, I thought it would be the Carrot. I kinda missed it out because I wanted to finish the game

Sounds tough, next time I play the game I'm gonna take it more seriously. I did the Trickster, which for me was a personal best, I was almost in tears quite literally! I have never been so glad to see a chocobo dead!!

Getting back to your original post noblame4... it's so funny that you say this. I remember starting about a month after FFXII was released and I started to see comments like this popping up in forums here and there around the net. Personally, I don't know who the hell these people are either. I don't understand comments like that. A lot of people were at first critical of the new combat system of FFXII, until they experienced it for themselves and found out just how "brainless" it wasn't.

I remember people used to say similar things when FFVIII first came out. People would say that if you just concentrated on jazzing up your GFs and junctioning to those stats you could become nearly invincible and finish the game on an extremely low level. I think that, whether true or not, is crap.

I am not surprised to see that FFXII is causing you some trouble, it was a MASSIVE game with a complex story. And the battle system was intricate and new. I remember I was having a little trouble myself when I got to the point you are at, but that's usually right around the point when I start catching-on to some of the game's most helpful strategies.

One thing I would recommend to pay attention to is strategizing your licence boards more. Pay particularly strong attention to tiles availiable which alter your HPs or add benefits to your magic reserves (those were my favorite licences). And looking for armor and accessories which alter your character's traits such as strength/Dexterity/and Luck can be uber helpful. Work on organizing your party and combat strategies and I think you'll find your party will get stronger and you'll find the game won't be "killing" you any longer, lol
