The Science of Final Fantasy

Ah, but that is the purpose of thisd thread. Magic is impossible, but this is to describe it in a way allowable by science as we understand it. What I am basing the spells on is solid (if vague) scientific facts, with the one addition that maic-users are able to manipulate matter on an atomic or quantum level with their mind. The ability to do so has been proved by science, the only thing that has not been shown is that this can be controlled with any level of success. For this, we assume that that level of success, though unproven, is possible. It isn;t science, but it is based in science (or at least fiction through the lense of scientific possibility).

Currently I am working on a theory for gravity spells. Micro black holes shouldn;t work, nor should increasing gravity on a molecular level. It could be an increase in attraction between atoms, or microwormholes, but neither of those seem plausible enough to throw out as a decent theory. Currently, Gravity spells are my archnemesis on this project, as the only things that seem like they may work... won't.

Also: In some FFs I've seen Death status, in some I've seen KO status. It's all theoretical anyway.

"re-arranging quantum physics with their mind" is where it jsut stops being science. it's no where near science. You're just throwing words together in a painful hodgepodge of mismatched scientific ideas.

You can hardly call it "the Science of final fnatasy" when it has no scientific sense in it.

Now that's just rude. I said nothing like that.* I made this thread for entertainment purposes, using sciences that are currently theoretical, and have simply not been disproven, and often have had many convincing arguments in favor of such theoretical sciences being accurate. Technically, you are correct in that these are not sciences, but more a sort of philosophy of physics (as ideas tested by experiment are the core of science, as zombie feynman says), but remember how many people make a really decent living off of trying to prove or disprove or prove relevant theoretical stuff. I'm sorry, but you are just being rude, and completely against the spirit of the thread.


*uncontrolled "telekinesis" has, by the way, been shown in valid tests to consistently go far beyond mere coincidence. This proves nothing, but it implies a whole freaking lot. (really, nothing is provable except in reference to specific cases, and depending on your worldview not even that, but I'm not going to go any deeper into that right now.)
