Agreed, we'd need a duty roster to balance what needs to be done with what each individual does best or reasonably well.

well ideally everyone would be good at everything, and those who weren't as good would be taught to make them better. All people have to be equally strong,
chain only as strong as weakest link and etc.

Indeed, I mean, no need for condoms anymore, for one thing.
Also, for the night watch duties, plenty of coffee and Redbull will be a must to keep us up.
However, ew, Redbull.
Samurai armour. I can see us walking around in those dismantling zombies and such, ha ha I am getting a laugh out of it...but then I woke up much too early...ew, early.
As for dictatorship, we must learn to work together. If I have learned anything from zombie films, humans are always a greater threat to each other than the zombies ever were, whether this be through hostile intent or loosing one's marbles.

I dont think the "links of a chain" metaphor is appropriate here. i was leaning more toward "pieces of a puzzle".
In a chain, a missing link ruins the whole thing. In a puzzle, an few missing pieces only take a tiny chunk out of the bigger picture. And one can assume what those pieces had by tthe pieces around the holes, and improvise.
Our system should be built like a puzzle, not a chain.
(We should discuss Hypothetical situations more often.)

The chain metaphor also works. on a scouting raid outside of camp, everyone has to be in top condition and know all the necessary skills at least to a competant degree. if one fucks up, the entire team can get killed.
If say our camp doctor died, we'd be fucked. what would we do? we probably couldn't find another. so we must all learn our basic first aid to cover him should he go. which is the whole puzzle thing I geuss.
So both metaphors work.
also woo, no condoms. Feels much better.

Can we not just say our camp is like a colony of ants? "individually we are all similar, so it is only through group effort and teamwork that our large scale goals can be achieved"

Not everyone can be good at everything.
But each of us have certain skills and contributions to offer, and it is their job to apply them for the situation. Some people will be working behind doors to supply psychological support, scientific breakthrough or nursing, which is as vital as those fighting. And we must repopulate the human race, any pregnant women cannot be expected to fight, right?
And for those who are not fighting, it is their duty to to achieve something which will benefit those who ARE, as well as those going on scouting missions and the like. This is what it will mean to work together, and there will be survivors somewhere, we need to find them...but nobody is to be belittled or condemned, because then, our chain link will collapse, or our puzzle will overflow its parameters.

In an ant colony there are millions, we are few.

Priority number 1: protect pregnant women and children.
Can we at least all agree on this?
and Zotar, you can at least see where I'm coming from with the ant colony idea?
