Computer Question V. - Final Fantasy Net

JET is a part of a forum, Sorrow's Elegance (This is not shameless advertising!) but as of late he has had problems accessing the site. He just gets a whited out page, even though it says it is complete.

I have tried to inquire this on the forums of the forum establishments, but for some reason am not able to post anything. I do not have ''permission''. Or some crap.

So...I am very stumped, and would really like to help Jet get back to it. What do you think the problem might be? It is not his account, as he cannot even get TO the site. I thought perhaps that it was his connection, browser or online supplier...but he says this only happens with the site.

Does anyone have ANY idea? There is nothing I can do on the site which would help him...even if his account was buggered somehow, he should still be able to get to the site.

Please help?

Yeah i'd suggest trying a differnt browser. Myself i use AOL which you may know is Merda and when i am online alot of things such as forums chat rooms don't work.

So instead i use Firefox which even though it needs updates all the time works fine.

Usually the reason you'd get "Permission Errors" posting is because you were supposed to handle an email authentication and did not.

As for the white page error, tell him to try to ping the website. (In Command Prompt, "ping <website>" to make sure he's getting a decent connection (under 150ms).) If the ping looks good, then there are two options: Bad browser/cookie/cache data, or the website is encountering server issues.

If it is the server, then how do I fix this? Can I even do it, or is this related to the mother site which generates all the different forums?

Also, nobody else in the forums have experienced this, although I believe that Miss Lockheart had some problems accessing it for a bit...I had forgotten that part.

Hum...it IS a problem with the site, then.

I am glad to know it is not the accounts, but this still sucks.

Yeah. Thanks for your suggestions, but I still can't access the site.

When I try to do the thing in Command Prompt, it repeatedly saysd that the syntax is incorrect, and I can't figure out how to type it so that the computer understands.

As for tryin a different browser, I used to use Firefox before we got a new computer (last christmas), but I've used IE since then, and it has only had the problem for a couple of hours before, at most.

So, thanks for trying to help with this. I wish I could do more, but mostly what I can think of would involve geting into the site, which is the catch-22 with that plan. I'll try getting on the site from a different computer, if I can get to one. Thanks, all.

PS: I was out sick. Not due to a problem occuring at this forum, too.

What is a syntax? I could probably figure out more, if I knew more about online and computer basics.

But yes Miss Lockheart, let us attempt plan +2. Are you okay with making the announcements to the folks who do not come here?

All we will add to the address is +2. I will give it some time, and say tomorrow we will change the address.

That's fine, I'll make the announcements then. Things are suitably quiet at the moment anyway so there won't be too much panic.
