I'm so so so glad I will only be at Uni part-time. I couldn't stand being behind a desk all day!!!

Just finished Geography today. The course, not just the lesson. As fro the boring, I too intend to go only part-time, or just online for the first year. Same question @ you, Saix.

Well at home now. Im only at college part time because im an apprentice I do electrical installation and do 4 weeks in college then 7 weeks work with my Dad.

I heard about those apprenticeship thingies. I wanted to do one, but you can't get a Modern Apprenticeship as a studio engineer. Dammit! I ended up going to college for 2 years full-time instead, and dropping out. It's gonna take me 6 years to do a part-time degree, but at least I can juggle looking after my kid at the same time.

I cannot resist the urge to let be known my pride (Read, idiocy.) at having dropped out from high school. I have like, no education whatsoever.

Although I really despise how society requires so much academic pursuit and training to obtain any sort of decent and interesting work for the most part, sometimes I still regret not going...there are so many things I would have liked to study in, but I cannot do it now. Also, I am paranoid.

But anyways, cheers for all your determination and motivation, for those of you attending educational establishments.

Back at college

I used to be an academic nut, my whole life revolved around my study so there was nothing else. I think that's why I missed so much before, taking things too seriously and not really looking at what was outside my books. But I'm really making up for it now- I might not be partying as much as folks my age, but at least I feel like I'm actually experiencing real life now.

One thing I do miss from my college time was having a social life. I didn't go out very often, but I enjoyed talking to loads of people and maybe having a drink or two. I love posting here and having the great conversations we have, but I must admit I do look forward to meeting new people at Uni. Probably none of them will have kids of their own, but what time I do get to spend with whomever I meet will be really great.

Uni in general will be like a break from parenting anyway. I'm glad I'm not full-time because I think it's only fair to be around for Jonny, but sometimes it's tiring being around a child so much of the day, and I rarely get a break because I do everything myself. Even when he's asleep, god even when I'M asleep, I on call for him if he needs me. hopefully he will go to nursery and be more independant, and I can do something fulfilling and enjoyable. Doing a music degree won't feel like work anyway, because music os a big part of my life

Must admit, I do see your point Termie. Especially in this country, the government "encourages" people to go to college or Uni, thinking that is the only way to create smart hard-working individuals. And we have a culture of pounding people who seem "uneducated", instead of accepting that it's not for everyone. Not everyone is going to feel comfortable in a classroom, so it's sad that society is so critical.
