I remember that when i first joined i was the 98th member if i remember correctly and the place was still in its first few months and was still having new feature added to it.

Most of the people who were before me are here no longer which is a shame really.

The things i remember in my newbie status here was logging in and seeing people online every time. There was also alot more Final Fantasy related threads whilst the general forum was a place to go and have fun out of the final fantasy sections.

Then of course there was the KH surge of members that some might remember then after KH3.org was up and most of those members left thats when it started to look more dead in here.

Final Fantasy Republic must be one of the few remaining big Final Fantasy related forums out there. About five years ago, there were many of them just as big, but they seem to dwindle quite fast these days. There are still many notable ones like Eyes on Final Fantasy or Final Fantasy Forums, but the others are much smaller communities such as this one.

I cannot quite guess why, perhaps the generation of Final Fantasy players have grown too old like me, and have other things to do. But it might pick up again, as whether or not we have fresh games, fans are still fans. I myself am still willing to talk about all the older games, and I am sure there are enough fans, especially younger ones who enjoy the latest installments.
Perhaps this is just a transition from one generation to another, and the field of fans have different mentalities and all, so head in different directions.

Far fetched it may be, but I do have a theory about online fads, and Final Fantasy forums and communities might have been bigger in the gaming scene some time back, a lot more then today-even if people still love it just as much.

I mean, people who enjoy the games do play them, so they might use their free time to do this instead of spending it in forums talking about it. With all the new gaming innovations coming out, perhaps people are heading there instead, who knows.

I like the peace and flow, but I never said that I would not wish that the older members returned.

I miss the older times, when i was still a mod, and snaggletongue, VITG, and Starlight*CRUSH (when he could be bothered) were still about. Now they are gone and I am but an old man wallowing in memory.

hey, ff is timeless. . .sure graphics and mechanics change, but the gameplay is still solid from what i have seen. . .as for fans. . .well, ff is my fav. . .and i'll be for years to come, by the looks of how the series is going. . .and yeah, responsabilities and life situations change. . .just my thoughts. . .

Ahhhh the past... I can't reflect for this site but as far as others I do miss alot of people. But alas I am older and the younger guys come and go......
