Default Unfriendly Forum

Because everyone on this forum is so friendly I thought it might be fun to share this with you guys because it was funny and I thought you might get a kick out of it.

On another FFXII fan forum I posted a message which was, in my opinion, written as friendly as possible, and it said:

"No New Updates Has anyone noticed that the webpage hasn't been updated for quite a while. It doesn't usually go this long without SOME kind of new info coming in? Shouldn't this have more updates, especially considering the game is likely being released within the year? What's up?! :P"

That was it, I intended it to encourage discussion and perhaps even seek some new info for the forum regulars... instead, within ONE MINUTE of my message being posted someone posted a reply, of which was a MODERATOR no less:

"Why the hell are people always whining about things? No patience. >:C"

LOL, I couldn't believe it, so absolutly rude. It made me laugh all night, the guy probably got a total thrill out of posting something so rude.

And then a follow up post by another person TWO MINUTES after that stated:

"New info will come, get some patience."

Haha just as rude, anyways, I found it all very funny. And... I guess what I'm trying to say is that this kind of stuff doesn't happen here in this forum. That is what makes this forum fun, because we don't have rude people here like many other forums have.

And that is my rant for the day lol Booya!

Ha ha, I have, for a length of time, perceived most forums as extremely hostile and inconsiderate communities, and the ones which do not appear as such, I must say, are often battlegrounds for online drama, deceit and general brouhaha which has had me evict myself from most of these sort of places. I used to love forums, but for the most part, my black heart now rejects most of them. XD

It is extremely sad to see that your intent to spark some discussion was met with such rude and nonchalant behaviour, and extremely immature behaviour at that. I am thinking that if you specified your intent a little more, it would have made no difference.
But, such is online. There are rare gems every here and there, and maybe our little corner of the cyberworld meets no such hostilities because we have nothing to offer, however anyone is always welcome, and we can only use more people to add to the obscure nature of our family. XD Any intent here is genuine, and as I have said before, is what keeps me coming back to these calm but comforting shadows. Depending on which skin one uses...XD
This place feels like running cold water over an infected wound. Not very romantic or poetic but, I really mean it.

But what can one say, the entirety of most of online suffers from the Wild West effect, such behaviour is to be expected. I am glad you could laugh at it, for that is all one can do. To worry about online drama would only render one crazy, and for nothing, no less. I would rather wallow in my own misery and feel sorry for myself because I was dumped rather then to worry about someone being rude because they are too lazy to post information pertaining to the subject matter of their community and feel insulted when inquired upon such, which indeed, is the origin of the ''online forum''. Why have an information or news section if it is not to be updated? In the least, insulting anyone who asks about it is not very reporter like, and lacks professionalism.

This place, and one other community which I frequent are the only two where the people are so friendly and nice...and even the other place is founded upon courtesy and etiquette; it is all superficial and generic.

*Hugs everyone!* This place is for real though.

Meh, that kind of behaviour really annoys me, especially when there really IS no info about new stuff from SE you made a very valid point!!!

I totally agree that this place is the friendliest I know of. I've been on and off trying to get along with the community of another forum for ages, it's just huge and idiocy (not the type I like anyway) seems to run riot. Newbies always get bashed, and it's all a big fun game when someone gets banned and a hate thread is set up against them. NO MORE DRAMAZ!!!! These people need lives, srsly (gh ebil abbreviations).

I don't know why I still visit there to be honest, I suppose I like the game discussions (when they are nice) but that's about it. I don't really miss game discussions here though, sure it's nice when they happen but they're not a big deal and I love the other discussions we have more. And the random people that have been floating in and out recently have also made me smile

Thanks for sharing everyone, and long live zhe family!!!

Most forums are either clique-y or soap opera "t3h drama."* As far as I can tell, we fit the former (and, in certain threads, the latter), but only to the extent that, say, a go or D&D club with only three or four people respectively can count as clique-y. If you have any idea what I'm saying. The second post, however, to me sounded like an overwrought moderator, more terse than outright rude. Like, trying to apologize in the half-second they have between suspending overly hostile forum members for fighting. But it could just be be interpreting it that way because I'm used to the ffnet and (to a lesser extent) kh3 forums here.

*other clique-y forums include "wish we were vampires" fforums (goths), bloggy forums (emos), and XKCD-type forums (the science-nauts standing on the fromt lawn trying to prove whether a rail gun or a solar sail in conjunction with a set of mirrors could levitate a squirrel with more success. I like XKCD)

I have found in my years of foruming that many forums are filled with impolite and quite rude people, in fact of the hundreds of forums I have joined there have only been three I've been happy to visit everyday. One of which was a Advertisement forum which I was an Admin on, another which is a very big community and has a great chatroom and this forum. Though in recent I've lost the will to post on nearly any forum. Hopefully I'll get the motivation back soon.

The one that probably made me give up on joining new forums was when I signed up to a forum and the admin of all people sent me a PM calling me a Pedo as soon as I joined, rather pointless.

I guess I'd like to thank you guys for being so nice and putting up with me for what three years now. Joga Bonito.

And we've been happy to have had you here Tidus. You are one of the original members of this forum afterall, so you have been the most loyal to ffnet I would say. I think it is safe to say that there is something that keeps many of us here, even if we are not quite sure what it is.

And this also goes for all the regulars. This is not a busy forum, so we've all gotten a chance to get to know each other a bit more than most other forums will allow. But I thank you all for coming here and being so friendly and having fun... not like that other forum I had mentioned, LOL.

As for that "other" forum I had mentioned in my first post, well, I tried to make another friendly reply to what those two people had posted, but it would seem that shortly after the last post was made the moderator closed the thread, so I am unable to post a friendly reply to them telling them what I thought of their unprofessionalism. Oh well, c'est la vie. I suppose things like game discussions and friendly conversations are a little beneath that forum, and they reserve their threads for newbie bashing and complaining.

If anyone wants to see that post btw it is funny and can be found here:
http://forums.finalfantasy-xiii.net/...0450#post90450
it still makes me smile when I read it.

Anyways, thanks for being such a fun group. Cheers guys.
