PS1 pack- to buy or not to buy?
So, it includes a PSOne (I wasn;t able to check on which PSOne it was, it was grey, not black or white, but I couldn;t tell the shape and couldn;t see the product code), two PSOne Dualshock controllers, all cords forconnecting to power, television, possibly PC hookup depending on which version it was, and five games (the only two I remember were Tomb Riader II and I think some sort of Centipoede, but there was at least one other classic [popular] PS1 game and no sports games! w00t!). $18.76 (for those of you who live outside the U.S. and aren;t familiar with the exchange, that's about as much as an old Gamecube or NDS game, and as much as or 1/3 over the cost of an old but not sucky PS2 game.) The problem is, if I get this, I'm not going to be able to get .hack//mutation ($16.50) for a couple of weeks, or even months, and I don;t know how long I;ll be able to keep stalling before //infection ends. The PSOne pack, however, I'm never going to be able to get, though I will be able to get the games, separate, and already have a PS2. What would you do?
PS: This actually isn't much use, since I've got to pick it up tonight before it's sold, but it helped me wqork out a few more pros and cons, and I think it'll be interestiong to find what each of you might do in this situation (say, collector personality vs. pure gamer personality).

It might be worth it, but just for the games. after all you do have a Ps2 that will allow you to play PS1 games provided you have a PS1 memory card so that you can save the games.

I would go for it, yeah as Zotar said even just for the games. It is nice to have a backup PSOne though, should you need it, since eventually they'll be really hard to get hold of. And some PS1 games with certain coloured backs won't play on a PS2 anyway, so yeah ^^

If it does not break your wallet, I say go forth and take it. As mentioned, they shall be hard to find soon, and some PS1 games refuse to work in the PS2, or make it function twice as hard.
I was in the same situation once, they were selling a mini PS1 with two controllers and like ten games for forty dollars. They told me everything was used though, so I did not take it, but that is a personal choice rather then fear that it would not work.

So, either .hack is not particularly popular, or you each have a collectr mentality. (note: I went for the PSOne as well. Unfortunately, it was a moot point, as the PSOne had been sold sunday, when I thought the shop was closed, and Blockbuster stayed true to their pattern of having a direct inverse proportion of .hack///mutation as compared to numbers of J.R. Miller who can afford .hack//mutation. Got a chance to get Castlevania: Lament of Innocence, so terminal might have another Castlevania addict to talk to after I see what this game is like.
So, I shall now add a game to the forum games section, Classic vs. shiny new game, based on this conversation. Sort of like One or the Other, but comparing different classic games and systems.
