What do you consider your true name? (not real, but true)

Different people have a different idea of what their true name is (for instance, in the Wiz Biz series, WIZ's true name is William Irving Zumwalt, but in.... I can;t think of an example, but a lot of books, someone's true name is not necessarily their given name, but rather a name they either gave themselves, or a name that is affixed to their innate self). I set up this thread because I was doing one of those "type your name and goal 15 times per day" things (a la Scott Adams' Dilbert Future, chapter 14), and realised that I don;t feel any real attachment to the name J.R. Miler, or to James. My friends and acquaintances IRL call me J.R., and my bbusiness associates and some teachers call me James. I justy realised that the only name I really associate with myself much is JET73L (Jay-Eee-Tee Seven-Three Elle, phonetically). I still introduce myself as J.R., but when I try to think of any names I feel are my own more than JET73L, I can;t. I assume this is, if your true name is taken, my true name, and if your true name is given or inherent, then I have no idea what it is.

That's a coincidence, I was thinking about the same thing. The other day I put this in my sig on KH3, and I've just done it here now-

I have so many names that people refer to me as, that I'm not sure yet which one sticks best, so I guess the idea of having them all in my sig will help me come to a conclusion at some point.

As for RL, 99% of the time I'm called Samantha, or Samantha Jane, it's just old acquaintances or people on the net that use my shortened name Sam. I used to be called Sam a lot more in the past (I had more friends :P), but for some reason my family have never called me it. I don't really know why, since Samantha Jane is quite a mouthful. Any thoughts on that?

I'm very very attached to Miss Lockheart now though. I seem to have left Miss Valentine behind somewhat since I joined KH3 *_*

i made it up when back in the day my brother and i liked to Play pretend games. We did a kind of Sci-fi/fantasy universe where we were the heros (naturally). i wanted a name that sounded "space'y" and started with a "Z". Thus Zotar was born. We saved the universe.

In my freshman year, My wrestling team thought that i bore an incredible resemblance, In looks as well as in manner, to the South park Character "Butters". Guess what my nickname became?

Michael Is my true Name, though I have been called Mike, Micky, and (To my disgust) Michelle.

iv'e been thinking of adding a surname to "Zotar." Mybee "Equinox" which reflects something of my character... Plus it ends in an 'X'.

I've been known by so many names now I've lost track. Snags seems to be the most "natural" at the moment, and Kitty was the longest standing. My birth name is Pamela Grace Leigh Jones. Pamela, Grace and Leigh do not suit me at all. I leave what people call me for others to decide.

I have never thought much of that. Mostly, I just go by nicknames in real life which are derived from my real name, given to me by other people, most commonly simply G. In French, G is pronounced as ''jay'' but people still say ''jee''. Another common one is ''jeejee'', and in Manitoba, nobody could pronounce my name correctly, and so I often went by the rather humiliating nickname of ''Jizz'' or ''Jism'', ha ha.

But as for what I truly consider my real name to be, I've never thought of this. Terminus Est would be the closest I guess, and I usually pick this not merely because it sounds so cool, but because of my fatalistic views on everything, bordering on nihilism.
However, introducing myself as such in real life might be rather odd.

. . .i would like to politely disagree w/ that notion, jane. . .termie is far too close to "termite", and so i would like to bet that such would be come a nickname for our dear friend terminal. . .not a good idea. . .

. . .as for real name?. . .i personally dont care. . .names are nothing but tags used by other ppl to identify each other. . .for government to tax u, for cops to arrest you, and so on and so forth. . .if i could have name of my own choosing, it would simply be the word "soul". . .cuz im nothing more than a damn soul/spirit wondering in this existance without meaning or task. . ."get rich" and "survive" sound about as good a life plan as any to me. . .so "soul", a simple, meaningless word would do far more to describe me than does my current name, which honestly i have no damn clue where my parents got it, and im sure they have no knowledge what so ever of greek mythology or they would have picked something else. . .plus i cant quite pronounced it my self in english. . .

@Jane: jane sounds alot better than sam. . .probably cuz it can be used either by males or females. . .

I've had many names "assigned" to me over the years, in fact it actaully became a running joke at university that my friend would ask new people we met what they thought my name was, and we'd never tell them my actual name. My actual name is James, which means "grasps by the heel" or "usurper" in Hebrew which I never took a real liking to. My closest friends call me Jeeves so I geuss that's my "true" name.
