Perhaps it is members who leave that brings the site down? Or the admin being MIA? Yet without having an active admin we have still survived all this time with a decent number of loyal members. Its hardly fair to turn up one day and see two members on and make your decision up based on that.

We have a complete new layout, new section, new active and dedicated Moderator team. To me those are things that have changed.

So when you come back to make a snap judgement in another 8 months you can read this, kthnxbye.

Thank you very much for your kind sentiment. :P I like to keep things interesting. Anyways, as I said, I really love these forums. Much more than ones I'm a part of that have a huge member count, in fact... They just seem so impersonal and stuck up. Also, drama and flaming seems to happen a lot more often.

I attempted to resurrect the FFVII area of the site - without succession. I came, and have come back onto this site to see any improvements made to the forum. I used to love this place, and when it turned into a shithole I did my best. I wasnt rewarded by Alex, and that was when I saw the true light of the website. The administrator long left this forum, leaving super moderators to try and sustain an unsustainable community.

Why have I posted this? To upset people? To make them feel stupid? No. They do that themselves, that is not my place. I am simply expressing my opinion of a forum once loved dearly by myself, and try to relieve some of the frustration that 3 month old members are made moderators while experiences memebrs are left to post shitty, pointless story threads that go on and on....while the site goes down.

Someone needs to contact Alex or Snaggle Tongue and get things changed.

So, basically, you've answered your own question, really. Which leads me to the following...

Most of what you pointed out was unnecessary; I mean, do you think we do not know this? Seriously.

We have been through many discussions about what could be wrong, besides the abandonment of the forum, including the banality of talking about Final Fantasy games, it gets pointless after a while, and without any further technical means, there is nothing we can offer to anyone outside of post-wise, which has not been covered in just about every Final Fantasy forum ever.
We have tried to think of some solutions, or attempted to speak to superior site heads, although most of it was in vain.

Of course, you might have been aware, had you been around. Not that I care whether you stay or go, but the point stands, your appearance seemed as mockery. If it was a rant, nobody would have said a damned thing, you could have claimed it as such, but I suppose you were thinking everyone would comply to your first post.

And many people would, indeed. Contact Snaggle Tongue? She was around a while back, then disappeared again, the only thing that accomplished is getting rid of VITG.
I was more than willing to help her out, if she felt threatened by his presence, but she never came back after that. However, people have lives-I understand this. I would also rather have a life instead of arguing about all this bullshit. But it does tell me that folks really do not care, so what the hell? Enjoy it for what it is? Would you rather the forum to be taken offline completely?

Certainly not saying that your previous attempts were useless, far from it, I am sure, despite my opinion on the nature of forums based on eleven year old games, do not get me wrong. But as for the mod issue, if all moderators are gone, they need be replaced, right?

I still fail to understand this as an opinion when you were so rash about it, without divulging much, if any, reasons for said behaviour besides snide remarks.

If no administrators are around to attempt and breathe life back into here, and that you know that without them this place is essentially doomed, why was your introduction so accusing? Nothing we can do about it, even if we have tried, and keep trying.

I hate the word opinion. People always do whatever the hell they want with that definition.

You will have to forgive my assumptions, however your behaviour and claims do not leave much to the imagination. If you know it is regression, why such a sarcastic question upon progress? Beh.

Of course, you have absolutely every right to say what you feel, in whatever way you see fit, but in return, people have the right to react to it just as freely. I can also admit feeling slightly insulted at all this, when I have tried my very best for nearly a year and a half to keep this place going.

Define Irony - Person who abandons forum, returns to forum to bitch about Admin abandoning forum.

I mean contacting Alex or Snaggle_Tonhue is just genius, how on earth would we have thought of that. The fact of the matter is contacting Snaggle_Tongue as I already have done will do nothing for she does not want to be an admin here and had actually asked to be removed from position. It is not her fault that has not happened.
Alex is probably harder to get a hold of than Bin Laden, I think I've managed to speak to Alex two or three times this year and let me assure you he has not abandoned this place. He has a life and other priorities at the moment.

Feeling hard done by? No pat on the back? Did you expect Alex to say since you have stayed here during hard time here you can be a mod. It's not about rewards. The people who have stuck through this site, non of them are in it for rewards, but because we all like this community we have here and we want to fight to keep it alive, not so one day Alex will return and give us a special title.

Y'know, this forum has been through worse, and there are pretty much two things that could kill the site completely: Alex pulls the hosting, or everyone gives up on it. That's everyone everyone, not just "most members" everyone.

We do what we can, and this place doesn't have the most members, but it's got the best, and it's not often we get someone criticizing it... even less often that it's a valid criticism. It's great that you've decided to try posting back in the FFVII subforum, but really, a pat on the back is not the reward for working towards keeping a forum alive: The forum itself is the reward. I am not letting FFNet die, and I know pretty much all of you are with me on this wholeheartedly. Who's with me?![/rallying cry]

Yeah. It's regress if you're counting from the most populous this forum has been, but if you're counting the current slope, it's definitely progress. Slow, but getting better. The worst things that have happened lately are the occasional troll/flamer/bot, and that last one is occasionally entertaining.
