Er, what was I saying again?

RPGs can be great platforms for experiencing imaginative stories. I’ve often felt this way myself about the FF series and this is probably the main reason I am so attracted to these games. I like them because they are unique from other fantasy or science fiction books/movies/games out there. I read a lot, so video games are an interesting alternative (and a pleasant occasional break) from the constant barrage of books I am always throwing at myself.

In regards to your comments on Vivi. I think he was a very interesting character in FFIX. In many ways he reminded me a lot of Rydia. They were both very young (under 10 years I think) and by the end of the game they were both incredibly powerful and well practiced in black magic. They have that ‘lost child’ character trait which is so adoring to many gamers. I think, no matter what strategy one uses in the final battle of FFIX, most people will have some combination of four players that will somehow include Vivi. If they don’t they are stupid, you need him. His strongest spells inflict far more damage than any weapon, and his ability to pair-up with Steiner packs a powerful punch as well.

So… Freya is one of your favorites huh? Yeah, she was kinda neat, although she had a very sad story during that game. I liked to think that she had a much more interesting life after the game’s story ended. I always thought her and Amarant were gonna hook up at sometime. haha. My favorite characater was Zidane. (I know, I’m always a sucker for the hero) But I also liked Steiner, Vivi, and good old Dagger.

I’m glad FFX is your favorite Firesnake, I always thought it had some impressive and innovative new ideas when it came along. Although it has never been anywhere close to being one of my favorites I did appreciate what I got out of it. I’m not sure why it didn't grip me like so many of it's predecessors, I think it might have been the style and look of it, too many bright colours, ouch it’s burning my eyes.

FFVII is the epic. They all have their good stories, but VII is my favorite. My second would have to be a toss up between IV and VI, and then my third favorite would be a toss up between VIII, IX, and the original FF.

Oh, and Firesnake, that comic was sick LOL… here’s something much more entertaining and pertinent to the theme of this forum…

Later all, happy posting.

Lol love the comic!!

I agree with so much that you say MidgarFanatic. I think our preferences depend on many thigs- our generation, which FFs we came into contact with and in which order, stuff like that. My introduction to FF was completely the wrong way round- I started with X, then I saw Advent Children, then I smashed FFVII apart and completely fell for it, now I'm on IX. I still haven't come into contact with any of the early titles, but all in good time I think.

Heh heh I know what you're saying, the heroes in these games are always so gripping for one reason or another. I think it's because they don't start out that way, and often they have to find something in themselves that makes them become the hero in the end. Zidane has to delve into the reason for his creation (and get past his girl obsession haha), Tidus has to make the best of a bizarre situation and Cloud, well, enough said. He goes through the biggest transformation of all.

I've always had a thing for the brooding types, heh heh!! Freya and Amarant in IX (yeah they totally should hook up!!), Auron in X, Fran in XII and the one who's name I shall not mention from VII, you know who!!!

Oooh yes, before I forget, update on my progress!! I got all the way to Necron, Deathguise and Kuja were a breeze as it were, which was surprising. But Necron is a completely different story, and both times I had a shot at him I failed quite appalingly. I'm not gonna let it put me off though, I'm gonna regroup and go and fins some extra stuff to help me get through it (namely a Rebirth Ring or two), and maybe train some more. My party's level is 56, but maybe I just need to nudge it up past 60. Will let you know when I finally crack this thing!!
