Who do you guys think is better, nobodies or heartless? Personally, I like nobodies better.Opinions?

Some of the heartless from KH1 were cooler, but overall, nobodies are cooler. Plus, they have Organization XIII, and Sora's nobody was Roxas. The heartless have: a shadow. :P

oh well, sora was crap when he was a heartless. If hes quite powerful, why didn't he become a high rank heartless, like a defender?

It was probably either symbolic, pure laziness on the part of Square, or to make you useless at attacking. If you ask them now, they'd probably say he poured all his strength and energyu ionto his Nobody, because of those with a strong enough will to have Nobodies, the higher anking the Nobody the weaker the heartless (which would most likely be complete and utter BS).
Edit: Have you ever seen a heartless besides the Shadows and the things from the Dive to the Heart/Destiny Island without the "Made by Ansem" symbol? It could be that those are the only two types of naturally occuring heartless, the Shadows are made from human hearts and the larger ones are made from the hearts of worlds!
