Nah, neither do I. Did we already discuss this, and how generic and boring it is? I think we did, but anyway.. I esp hate the Lowtown music, it makes me really cringe. It's the only one that has stuck in my head aswell, h well I suppose the guy (can't remember his name) tried his darndest. Shame Nobuo Uematsu is otherwise engaged.

hahahaha, oh my god did we ever get off topic.
okay so since I have played all the games and listened to all the music very carefully, I would probably have to say that the best of Uematsu's music has come out in FFVI and VII. although VI came out for the Super Nintendo, and so the technology to compose some really good music was limited, Uematsu still managed to pull off some pretty fantastic stuff in this game. think of the entire Opera scene in that game man, that was totally fun and offered a great break from the regular gameplay. there are Fourteen!!! playable characters in this game and every single one of them had their own theme music that was totally unique and recognizable. and some of the other songs were beautiful as well, such as Magitek Factory, the Boss Battle Theme, Ultro's Theme, Forever Rachel and of course the ending battle music with Kefka.
I would probably agree with many that VII didn't have as many can't-get-that-song-outta-my-head tunes as many of the previous did, but it had enough show stoppers that have stuck in the fan's memories enough to warrant it a spot as one of the greats. I'm thinking in particular here about some of the tracks like the Main Overworld Theme and of course One-Winged Angel.
PS I loved Zell, he was totally bad ass haha, alright, you're on. :P

I need to try and get a listen of some of the old Super Nintendo stuff, I bet it was fun. Wow there were 14 characters in VI!!!?? Is there a remake of this game already or are we waiting for one? Might try and get hold of it, even if it's just the SN version
PS. BOOOYAAAHHHH!!

Square/Enix is currently taking another stab at trying to resurect some interest in the Super Nintendo generation of Final Fantasy (IV-VI). They made a half-hearted attempt a few years ago by releasing PS1 versions which featured the original version with some CGI openings and endings bookcasing the game. It didn't work very well, many fans didn't find the cutscenes very fantastic and the rereleases were a relative flop. Nintendo also made an attempt in bringing some life into IV and VI a few years ago by releasing FFIV for the Gameboy Advance (with a VI edition for the Advance I think currently in the works). They added some extra features such as a new dungeon and a feature which allowed you to pick an alternative party to fight the end boss; however, again fans were dissapointed with the lack of updated graphics and new implements to the overall gameplay.
However, there is light at the end of the tunnel. As I think I might of mentioned previously, or perhaps in an alternative thread, Square/Enix and Nintendo are working together and have recently made a greater effort in bringing some life into these older classics onto the Gameboy DS. The technological abilities of this newest Gameboy is much better than the Advance was, so now they are flexing some creative muscle experimenting with new 3-D battle scenes, CGI cutscenes, and adding new innovations to the original gameplay. FFIV DS is slated to be released in Japan at the end of this year... and (to finally answer your question Miss Lockheart, lol) I'm sure VI will be soon to follow. No news for a new VI has been officially released but I'm sure it can be assumed that it will happen sometime in the near future. And I would definately wait for this release to play. If you find a Super Nintendo version, you could play it and I'm sure you would get a lot out of it; however, the graphics are very dated, obviously. I think waiting for a rerelease for the DS would be the way to go. That will be the next time I'm gonna play it. But hey, do whatcha like. It's a free world.
Oh my god, I'm such a rambler, I just drank the largest Orange Julius I'd ever seen and I'm so full of sugar, I had to type the sugary junk out of my system, lol.

Thanks for the super sugar charged info dude!!!!
I think I may just wait for the DS releases, on your advice. Maybe I could get some nice soul to get me a DS for Christmas hee hee! Then I can give FFIII a shot, it looks really good on the DS. And I will keep my eye out for VI too!

VI does have fantastic music, but VII really doesn't compare to VIII, which has the best in the series. I'd also put FFX in a close second ahead of VI, though obviously it wasn't an Uematsu only soundtrack, his character themes were the best (Auron's Theme particularly)

I did like X very much, a lot of those songs are very close to my heart. they got me through a hard time, I guess you win some you lose some. Suketi Da Ne is fantastic, I think Uematsu had quite a lot to do with that song, apparently his wife didn't like it much though! I like the orchestral version particularly, it's another one of those songs that made me think "I want to do that!!"
Yeah Auron's theme is kinda funky, it suits him. I liked Tidus' theme when I heard it on the boat to Luca, but the slow version wasn't that good.
Wasn't there a lot of recycled music in X? I heard a theme that sounded suspiciously like Red XIII's theme at the Shoopuf section...
