Default Tactics War Of The Lions

Ok I just got this game today (they didn't have FFI or II at the Gamestation I went to ) though I've heard it's really bad. I admit I'm looking forward to seeing Balthier but I don't know anything else about this game, only that people say it should be avoided like the plague. Any thoughts?

It's my first PSP game!

You friends wouldn't want run into me on the street for one.

Also, from my experience, I know for a fact that FF 1-2 for PSP should be avoided like the plague. FF1-2: Dawn of Souls (GBA) is a much superior game on so many levels; However, the PSP version isn't death, really, it's just TERRIBLE in comparison to the GBA version, which is cheaper.

FF: War of the Lions is a great game, but the two copies I've played have all had some really broken cameras that border on insanity, and some of the original FFT (PS1) sound effects were dropped/axed/fucked...but it's still as solid as the original, plus the Wi-Fi/extras...AND, honestly, it's in PORTABLE form.

Note: That's a pretty good choice for your first PSP game. The only other decent strategy RPG games on it are Jeanne D'Arc and Disgaea...while good, pale in comparison to WotL's epic, convoluted storyline/characters.

Thanks for the info StarlightCRUSH*!

I haven't started the game, but I do feel a lot better about it now. I still wouldn't mind trying out FFI or II (only because I don't have a GBA), but I think I'll devote some time to this game if it is as good as you say

I think I'm gonna get the FF I + II versions for the PSP when I get one just before Crisis Core is out, mostly because I havn't played I and II in a long long time. And they are classics, and I'm interested in checking out the new music, graphics, and cut scenes in them.

Sorry I can't give you much feedback on the Tactics series, as I havn't played them too much, mostly because I just don't have the patience for strategy RPGs. As a result, the 'FF Tactics' series has largely eluded me. I played the original for the PS1 many years back, and I dabbeled in the Tactics Advance game for the Gameboy Advance, but that's about it, and I didn't enjoy either one of them. But everyone is unique, I hope you enjoy it. Let me know if it's any fun.

Ok I'll keep you updated on it!

I have to admit all my curiosity is with FFI and II, they seem to have mixed reviews but I never played the originals and thought that since I've got the PSP I might take a shot at them. We'll have to see what happens!

Personally, i love this game a hellish lot

Having had experience from the PS1 version, i actually found the game to be quite fun and exciting... Assuming you're willing to work on it.
The fun part (To me) is power-levelling at the early parts of the games. I literally spammed my levels to the extent that the storyline enemies could barely touch me. But of course, that requires a lot of work, and patience too, battles can take up to roughly 5mins at minimum.
The storyline wise...

So, by now, you must have played it...what did you think?

And curse anyone to Hell who badmouths this...where did they get the idea that this was bad? if they do not enjoy strategy role playing then fine, but otherwise, as far as srpg's go, this is the apex of them all!
