The Game Boy Advance port of Final Fantasy VI is great indeed...I had fun playing through it, and noticing all the name changes they have done for some of the enemies and equipment, as well as the new little bonuses...however...

One name change I cannot seem to abide by, no matter how much I try...is the changing of the name from Illumina to...Lightbringer.

Lightbringer.

Kidding. Seriously, Lightbringer? FF swords are supposed to have class. Illuminata, Deathstrike, Ragnarock... Excalibur and Masamune! What could possibly have prompted them to make such a stupid change?

(Yeah, yeah, it's probably in response to the Illiminati controversy since the Da Vinci Code movie, but that's not a decent excuse for using the name "lightbringer" instead!)

Even if it was a response to that, we should not have to pay for bubble people's hissy fits. The Illumina is the Illumina. And, must they not figure that "light bringer" is the origin of the name Lucifer?

Also, there is a part in the game, when you first meet one of the playable characters, Celes, who is physically beaten by a soldier. This was in the Super Nintendo version. In this port, they cancelled the beating, so she just lays there while the soldier tells her to shut up.

Now, not that I absolutely insists on seeing a women made of sprites being brutalized by some soldiers, however censorship really makes me angry, I thought that we were getting passed such nonsense.

I can't believe they censored Celes' beating scene. That was such an important part of character... showed how low she had fallen.

But as for "Lightbringer"... I think it sounds kind of lame. Sounds like something a Teletubby would use. Illumina was much better.
