I must admit, I have never played any of the Star Ocean games, which is probably the only series Square-Enix has produced which I have not checked out. However, for those who are interested, SE is working on the 4th installment which is coming out for the PS3 due out either later this year or earlier next year. The first trailer has been released:

I think I'll probably look into playing this one as the science fiction angle of the game appeals to me.

I have that game... And I have to say I agree that they had HORRIFIC choice in both the character designer and voice acting parts of the game... The character designs for the male characters was fine, IMHO... Where it went retarded was the girls... While the guys looked like your typical Japanese RPG heroes, the girls looked rather useless, and more like their character designs would be put to better use in a little girl's semi-romantic Shojou manga... Another thing that annoyed me was the female lead character's casual outfit... Was she EVER going to zip and button her pants...? I don't even have a idea what the character designer was thinking of there...
As for the voice actors, they didn't annoy me quite as much as most people... I mean, several voice actors were well chosen... The issue to me, was lack of consistency in the quality of voice actors... I mean, you've got Voice-Over veteran Crispin Freeman (From .hack, Hellsing, Slayers, several other games and Anime) as Albel, then you've got squeakily annoying Pepita's voice actress. What annoyed me the most was knowing that, if Square Enix put more money into this project rather than FFX-2, This would have been an awesome, high-quality title...

Dont you say that! That just...brings back strange mamories.
Long time ago I had a japanese game about love, romantic and so. I played it with all my feelings. The main hero was just like me. Many nights I couldn't sleep well. That game touched my feelings hard...
