Indeed, most were shoddy at best...Quite a horrid year actually, and it disappoints me. Or perhaps I am just picky. Will hope this year is a better one for swashbucklers...

it's looking promising right now...just not for rpgers. We have MGS4 coming next month and GTA4 coming soon. Resident evil 5 and silent hill five for the horror fans, soul caliber IV and Tekken 6 coming out for fighting fans, and hopefully starcraft 2 coming out for RTS fans. Alot of new shooters coming, most looking great, but that's all that the market is now, Shooters and sports games, nothing for the rpg fans. We do have FFXIII coming and the next installment of dragon quest, dragon quest 9 coming for the ds. There are some good RPG's coming, we just have to wait. Also hopefully the new kingdom hearts reach here really soon.

FF12 takes this with absolute ease. Blue Dragon was disappointing, Paper Mario wasn't as good as I expected it to be, and I wasn't completely blown away by the Eternal Sonata demo on LIVE.

Lessee... I haven't played Blue Dragon or Persona 3, but I'd nominate them, from all that I've seen of them. Blue Dragon just has a good old nostalgia feeling whenever I so much as LOOK at it... It makes me want to play Chrono Trigger again... And, seeing as it's the base development team originally behind Chrono Trigger, it can't be too bad.
Persona 3... That's an obvious candidate... RPG/Dating Sim hybrid? That hasn't been done much. And from what I've seen, production value is top-notch and an expansion, FES, is arriving in the U.S. at least, this April.
Now... one I can definately say is the Game of the Year Edition of Oblivion. So much content for such a small price... And Shivering Isles is absolutely f***ing gorgeous and nuanced.
I can't wait for Fallout 3 this year. ^^

2007 REALLLY disappointed me, the only one game I found that made me actually jump for joy was Warriors Orochi by Koei, but then again you have to like either Dynasty Warriors and/or Samurai Warriors.
