As I am near obsessed about Symphony of the Night, I keep on searching and searching and searching for all the information I can find about it, whether trivial, important or merely rare artwork.
I have finally found additional information on my favourite character ever, whom is always featured in most of my avatars, ''Lisa'', and for some reason felt so happy and proud of my new discovery that I simply had to share it.
All I had ever really known was that her name is Lisa, and wife to Dracula. She was a doctor, whom treated sick patients with herbs and potions.
Due to such practices however, she was trialed a witch and put to death, which then instills Dracula's intent to destroy mankind.
But I have managed to find this new information tonight, after so many years of random searches! Nothing in it is actually very new, but it does have specific dates, and her FULL NAME! Ha ha, how could she be my favourite character if I knew next to nothing about her? But in my opinion she is the most underrated character ever in the Castlevania series, and rightly so I suppose since they barely ever mentioned her...but Symphony of the Night DID occur because of her death, so I believe she should be more important then she seems to be now.
Anyways, here is the info...and I also found a new sprite of her, which apparently is fan made, unless I missed a game somewhere. XD
ILONA ELISABETH SZILAGY
The second wife of Prince/Count Vlad Dracula, cousin of Matthias Corvinus, the King of Hungary, and the mother of Adrian Fahrenheit Tepes, also known as "Alucard." When Prince Dracula abandoned Orthodox Christianity and became a Roman Catholic late in his life, the Hungarian king permitted the Wallachian voivode to marry her. The marriage took place in 1475, just under two years before Dracula would fall on the battlefield. History does account for her death in the early 1500s, though for the CastleVania mythos, it is revealed that Ilona was something of a doctor, aiding her husband’s people in times of great epidemics. According to CastleVania lore, Ilona "Lisa" Szilagy was lynched by the very people she dedicated her life to helping, tried as a witch for her relationship with Dracula, then burned at the stake. In 1792, Alucard encountered a Succubus witch that attempted to impersonate Ilona in the hopes of swaying him to his father’s side (CastleVania: Symphony of the Night).
Ha ha how come most of this was not in the video game? Oh well, I still completely love Castlevania Symphony of the Night, and even after all the times I have played it and went mental looking it up it still reveals new things.
So I wonder who Dracula's first wife was, if Lisa was the second? O_o Well okay it actually has real historical facts that have nothing to do with the game, but STIIIIIIIIL!
I shall conclude with my most favoured Castlevania quote ever...
Do not hate humans. If you cannot live with them, then at least do them no harm, for theirs is already a hard lot.
